There were many issues that caused Rome to fall, but they are mainly considered to be Political, Social, and Economy. Some Political reasons why Rome fell was the senate became extremely corrupt and political instability came into existence. Officials would offer positions in office for those who could pay. They accepted bribes in exchange for favors. Another Political reason was when Emperor Constantine divided the empire into two halves. He declared Constantinople the new capital of Roman society, claiming rule over all Eastern territories. The Western Roman Empire lost its power in the East, causing a great reduction in imports and goods. Which caused a major decreased in Welfare. Whenever a weak emperor ended up taking control, powerful officials and generals would often try and take advantage of the power, to try and make them more powerful. This caused continuous Riots and chorus, which led to fighting. Which played a major role in weakening the empire.
One major thing that caused Rome to fall was Christianity. For many years the Romans were only told to worship as Catholics. But when Constantinople came, he allowed all religions.Even though Constantinople allowed all religions, most people worshiped as Christians, which caused problems for the religions and their followers. Another Social problem that impacted Rome, was when the Huns and the Germans moved west, causing the borders to be exposed. Even though the Division of empires and the Corrupted Senate played a major role in the political standards, it also played a good amount in the social group.
If you really think about it Political and Social do play a good Role in the fall of Rome, but not as much as the economy. The Economy is what your country depends on. Without a good economy, your country would just corrupt. This is mainly how Rome fell. Rome Depended on it Empire for funds (like farming particles and mining) when is became very poor, it had trouble coping economically. Rome had nothing to trade! In any kind of war, you need money to be successful. Eventually other cities within the Empire stopped sending funds to Rome. Which caused them to have a weak army, which led to invasion. Rome debased the currency; this meant a coin didn’t have a default value. As a result of this, it led to severe inflation. High taxes were another issue. It caused worriedness and anxioness on many classes in Rome. And of course the Plagues had a huge effect on Rome economy. If there are plaques going on then there us going to be dying, which leads to all sorts of problems.
Basically the empire just got so large that it was to hard to handle, and eventually thee Huns and other Barbarians just invaded it (sacked it). The emperor didn’t help at al, he was to scared to tell the people, so he used Pax Romana (Roman Peace) to cover it up. Nothing particular led Rome to fall, it just lots of things led up to it and eventually that made it fall.
