Causes Of The Salem Witch Trials Dbq
The noose swung back and forth. Another execution had taken place in Salem in 1692, the victim falsely accused of witchcraft. Why were citizens fearful enough the killed others? The Salem witch trials were caused by poor, young girls who acted possessed because they were jealous of the rich. These girls hated being bossed around, so they pretended to be controlled by witches, who were the rich people they were jealous of. According to document B, the young girls didn’t want to be told what to do. I know this because in document B, it shows that mostly girls ranging from ages 16-20 accused women from ages mostly 41-60. This shows that women and all their drama finally caught up to them! The “afflicted” girls also acted possessed. Document
