Causes Of The Civil War Dbq
Through 1861 to 1865 the newly formed nation was tearing at its seams. The Civil War was a war fought between the northern states and the southern states, mainly due to the controversial issue of slavery, but also had ties with the states opinions on trade and states rights.
To fully understand the causes of the Civil War we must first analyze the differences between the North and the South. The two were worlds apart in terms of economy. While the North was a heavily industrialized railroad hub, the South was an area that relied fully on agriculture and cash crops grown on plantations. (Document 1) The Northern states also had a much larger population than their southern counterpart, 23,000,000 people compared to a meager 8,700,000. Roughly
