There are times in life when someone is told they are not good enough or that they will never complete their life long goals. Some of these people are submissive to what people say; others try to break their mold in society and overcome the societal oppression that they face. Throughout the course of the year, there was an exponential amount of different pieces of literature that surfaced to prove no matter what the odds are, people can still break the cycle and win against society. Movies not only provide the average person an hour or so of entertainment, but it also provides emotional or influential impact on the person who views it. Subsequently, Rudy has an impact that will last a lifetime in more ways than one. Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger starts to break his cycle of socialization and break barriers right from the beginning in the first scene.
Even before this event hough he was getting ready by saving up his own money from the job at the plant with his Dad. Everyone, even his life-long girlfriend at the time, doubted him and told him not to go, that he needed to be more realistic, or even just telling him he would never life up to his dream of being on the Notre Dame football team. Rudy still did not listen to the doubters, even when his dad told him his own sad background story, and proceeded to the university where he reached out to a priest who, for the first time really in Rudy’s life, helped him get into a college that was going to help him transfer into Notre Dame. Despite his hard studies he was rejected from Notre Dame a couple of times, but through hard work and a help from a new friend, he finally got into the school; not only that but he got on the football team as a practice participant. Determination is all Rudy had and at some points inspired the football team where as other times made them angry but again
