Born in New York City, Catherine “Kitty” Genovese was the eldest of the 5 siblings. She graduated high school and decided to rent an apartment with her friend in Queens, New York. One day when she was on her way home from working late night at a bar, she was approached by a stranger, Winston Moseley. Frightened, she began running toward her apartment and Winston quickly went after her. It was not long before Winston caught up to Kitty and stabbed her twice in the back. When Kitty screamed, “Please help me! Please help me!” her neighbors were startled. About 38 people, either from their windows or from the street, saw a man chasing and stabbing Kitty. Because of the neighbor’s glowy lights and loud chatters, Moseley was frighted twice but every…

Catherine Rampell is an opinion columnist at The Washington Post and in the past worked as a reporter for The New York Times. She has covered economics and launched the award-winning Economix blog along with several theater reviews (W.M.D). Mrs. Rampell, in her article, "Theater Censorship alive and well in Maine and NYC," articulates her view regarding the controversial play that was set to be performed by students in Maiden. The show is set in the context of the legalization of same-sex marriage in the United States. Therefore, it is obviously poised to be a tough task to convince their home town of Maiden to accept their play. In addition, Rampell ascertains that a similar situation had occurred in a Maryland School in 2011, where students…

The first part of self assessing me was pretty important because it was a sum of my whole lifestyle in one. Giving me an overall look on what I should change or if I should even change any of my habits. My smoking score was a perfect 10, which was not surprising at all to me. My alcohol/drug score for this was seven points because I do drink. The score for my eating and exercising habits were perfect because I do a good job when it comes to eating right and working out on a daily. My stress control score was an eight, but I do understand why. I do know that I stress to some extent. My last score was safety and the score for that was a nine. I think my life is pretty amazing if you ask me.…
