The Consultation and Education Department at the Greenby Community Mental Health Center is about to lose funding for lack of information regarding the efficiency of the program to draw self-referrals. The scenario suggests the Consultation and Education Department director gather enough data so the board of directors will vote to continue the program’s funding. The Consultation and Education Department holds preventative programs at the factory and holds workshops to help people recognize their problems. To gain enough evidence that the program is effective and efficient, a process evaluation measure and an outcome evaluation measure are generated and put into practice. A process evaluation attempts to review an organization and its processes although an outcome evaluation attempts to review its inputs/outputs and future. The scope and purpose of the measures heavily influence the design and aid the director’s current situation with the executive director and the board of directors of Greenby.…

Economic and political events relate to current trends in the human service field with the intentions of meeting the growing needs of people everywhere. High financing requirements provide clients with services in various areas, which are critical to their well-being. Unfortunately, this task is becoming harder by the day to contend with, and the client suffers when quality care is unavailable. According to “Human Services in a Time of Economic Crisis” (2009) “adding to the human services funding deficit, and constituting a second form of disinvestment, are a number of direct cuts made to these programs over the past several years.” The political relationship links governmental policies as well as funding together. “Governmental policies determine who are clients, ways that clients may be serviced; funding influences the resources we have to help the increasing number of those in need.” (Woodside & McClam, 2011, p. 92). Trends will involve a variety of situations that will need the assistance of human services professionals. No matter what the trend is, the time, or the individual who it applies to, the ultimate goal is to meet the needs of the clients. Today economics, and political events rule the types of trend(s) regulated into today’s society and how it affects human services, by not possessing readily available services for those in need, especially in crises situations. This has become more of a growing phenomenon within the past year(s) with issues such as health care, gun control, terroristic attacks, addictions, childcare, housing, mental health illness, child, and family services to name a few.…

The American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) was established in order to accommodate this growing population. In 1977, AMHCA held their first annual conference. During another conference held the same year, the organization held several competency-based workshops and discussed issues concerning licensure, third-party payments, how counselors should treat special populations in the settings they found themselves working within (William, 1985). The AMHCA went on to establish the “Blueprint for the Mental Health Counseling Profession” in order to provide direction in this growing field. As AMHCA continued to grow in membership, the association was able to institute certification for counselors; publications that included a newspaper and journal; and a history of strong leadership that increased the association’s visibility (William, 1985). Finally, the 1990’s ushered in a major influence amongst the many counseling associations due to mental health counselor’s unique skills and approach, overall contributions and impact on clients’ mental health and well…
