There are several different characteristics that are crucial to surviving anything. For example determination,calmness and intelligence. These three traits have their own reasons they are important but they compliment each other. Let’s say you are going through some rough times you and your best friend just got into a fight and you want to survive this tough time. determination will help you because you have a reason to be determined you want to patch things up with your best friend. You are determined to fix this. Next is being calm if you are not calm you will freak out and you might do something dumb so that might make things worse. If all humans gave up we would be nowhere. If I gave up on school, then I would fail. My determination made me not give up so that is why I am not I am not failing. Castaway that movie shows determination in surviving. Chuck Nolan was determined to get off the island. If he didn’t have determination, he would have never got off that island. Without determination, he probably wouldn’t have even tried to get off that island. “[to Wilson] We might just make it. Did that thought ever cross your brain? Well, regardless, I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean than to stay here and die on this !@#%^& island, spending the rest of my life talking… [suddenly yelling]...TO A [GOD DANG] VOLLEYBALL!” This is proving that he will take his chances. He will risk his life just to get off that island because he is determined enough to get off that island. So this proves that determination can be important to survival and the movie castaway proves this.

Calmness another key survival trait. If you aren’t calm then you will panic and start to freak out then you won’t think clearly and you might do something dumb. That dumb thing could ruin your entire situation. The story The Most Dangerous Game is an excellent example of how staying calm is very important during a survival situation.
