James Bond has been around for over 50 years. Created in 1953, he provides many opportunities to study popular perceptions of intelligence, particularly covert operations and human intelligence. Signals intelligence does not play a big role in the novels and films. As mentioned earlier, spy fiction aims to be realistic and picks villains and adventures that correspond with the political threats of its time. Zeitoun’s determination makes his business as a painting contractor successful. Every day he goes to work to please his clients because his business is his main priority. Zeitoun will do anything for his clients; even before Zeitoun owned his business, and met his wife Kathy, he worked for a man named Charlie Saucier. He did not have a car to drive to work, so he would ride his bike to and from work each day. A flat tire challenged Zeitoun to get to work on time one day, and instead of giving up Zeitoun did the unexpected. As he panicked, “he threw the bike over his shoulders and started jogging.” (27). Charlie drove past Zeitoun on his rush to work and pulled over next to him. He asked, “What are you doing?” (27). Zeitoun answered, “‘I’m going to the job’”(27). When Robert was suddenly ripped from that pure connection, he was left utterly distraught and confused. He blames himself for her death. “It was Robert’s fault. Robert is not pleased with the new situation and while he wants to reject it, it results in his alienation of the society. The second motif, drinking, helps to get him through the day. Drinking helps him forget the reality with which he is unhappy and from which he wants to escape. Again, he is trying to reject the new and brutal vampire society that established itself in the world. The problem of isolation is a very present concern in our society as well. In our world, people are shutting themselves out from the world and neighbours, especially in urban environments. Having contact with your neighbours is becoming rarer and rarer as people are alienating themselves from the world. Richard Matheson is highlighting this matter very subtly in the…

Reading is not one of the things I do regularly, watching movies is what normally happens. While I do not read hardly ever, one of my favorite books is Casino Royale, from the James Bond series by Ian Flemings. In his life time Flemings wrote a total of 14 James Bond’s books. Casino Royale was the first of the series written in 1953. Casino Royale introduces James Bond to the world. Each book is a little different from the other but still hold the classical James Bond theme.…
