This is because the Congress adopted an act called Federal Kidnapping. If the kidnapper crosses a different state, the crime falls under federal jurisdiction. Between 5 and 10 minutes of walking they stopped in an opening, then turned around and began to walk back towards the LSA. Before returning to the LSA they turned into an open Civil Engineering (CE) yard and walked around inside for approximately 5 minutes looking around. At first they climbed up inside a sky watch tower and stayed there for approximately a minute. After a minute they climbed down from the sky watch tower and proceeded to head towards a large tent within the CE yard. The male began to struggle with opening the door and it was obvious that he was trying to force his way in. Consequently it was obvious that he did not have a code or key to gain access to the tent. After a minute or so of struggling, the male went to a part of the tent and forced the tent open with his hands and gained entry to the tent. By the time that patrols arrived on scene, both suspects were inside the…

For our media critique assignment, my media group chose to review the television show series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. This show is about an elite squad of New York Police Department detectives called the Special Victims Unit who investigate sexually based offenses and crimes. The episode I chose to watch was the third episode from season fifteen and it was titled American Tragedy. Within this episode itself, there were many stereotypes present, especially about black and white communities. In the episode you can tell that there is tension between these two communities of people and that there are many injustices that take place. This storyline portrayed the focus of increasing incidents of hate crimes against racial minorities across the United States leading towards failure of equality and justice among all individuals.…

The Supreme Court determined that a child in placed in the situation would feel compelled to answer police questions, whereas an adult would feel free to leave (Mears, 2011). Since the 1970s, the State Department estimates that it has been contacted for help in about 11,000 international child abductions where a parent was involved. The State Department estimates an average of 400 to 500 new international cases per year. A recent study by the American Bar Association Center on Children and the Law shows that in 60 percent of international abduction cases, the children are never returned even though their whereabouts are known. To resolve custody disputes and jurisdictional involving different countries caused by the international abduction of children, the international law adopted in October 25, 1980 the Hague Convention on Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction. The Convention provides common rules and procedures to determine child custody.…

Abduction is worse in some ways than many murders. Sometimes murder is a crime of passion, of sudden impulse, or even drunken or drugged incomprehension. But abduction is premeditated, preplanned, and ruthless. And when plans go awry, quite often the only way out, it would seem to the criminals involved, is to murder the victim. Moreover, one of the most tragic and horrible experience in the case of kidnapping is Paul A. Getty, the grandson of oil billionaire who was kidnapped in Rome last July 9,1978 was held five months and five days in huts and caves in the wilder, remoter areas of the Italian country. He was blindfolded, tortured and also suffered hemorrhage on his head. He did not move for about ten days but manage to survive until he was released after the demanded ransom was paid to the abductors (Wikipedia, 2008).…
