Over seventy years ago, William Dillard had a vision to discover the finest quality merchandise available and sell it at great affordable prices. With that he came up with the department store Dillard’s that sells men’s, women’s, juniors, children’s clothing, shoes, handbags, accessories, lingerie, beauty products, and home furnishings. William Dillard believed in the idea that at Dillard’s quality was always the greatest value. Although Dillard’s still upholds to Williams’s idea Dillard’s has more recently began to noticeably lose strength within their organizational structure and culture.
Recommended Change
The development of a plan is in fact necessary in order to assist and strengthen Dillard’s company culture and leadership so in effect Dillard’s can strive to in contrast positively influence a change to deal with their high turnover and rigid performance reviews. Organizations such as Dillard’s need strong leadership and strong management for optimal effectiveness (Robbins & Judge, 2012). What is driving the need for change at Dillard’s is our forever changing economy, social trends, and the competition of other department stores that are similar in character to Dillard’s merchandise such as Nordstrom’s. …show more content…
This new direction must maintain and establish, or create a new mission and vision of the organization and impose those ideals in the new strategy for change. To implement change within the organization, the management style needs to be examined and then reconsidered if change is expected to occur. The organization must create a change management plan to begin plans for reorganization. Therefore we have created the Dillard’s Transformational Agenda
