Yes, the IEP team would likely determine that the child was eligible for extended school year services. Since the student requires specially designed instruction from a special education teacher, occupational therapist and speech-language pathologist, and is a student with autism, it is likely that the student would regress if services were not continued beyond the regular school year. The student’s need for repetition of skills and activities that are academic, social and adaptive behavior/daily living skills, also causes the team to consider the importance of ESY services so this student can continue to progress and avoid regression.
