The first thing the board needs to do is look at the entire proposal carefully and identify exactly what it is that the school is trying to achieve with this program. Assuming that the program fits in line with the mission and values of the institution and they can afford it then the board needs to analyze the success or failure rate of the potential program. Naturally is Strutledge cannot support the program fiscally then there is really no reason to pursue it because it would be dangerous. I would recommend that Strutledge needs to find out exactly what it is that their consumers (in this case student’s) are looking for. For example what are some of the basic requirements that they would need to meet in order to have a program that would meet qualifications for a good MBA program. One could look at the accreditation that would be necessary in order for the students to be sure that they would receive a quality accredited education. This is important because another factor that is crucial if the employment opportunities that may come from receiving this new MBA from the school. The school is going to want to be able to assure it students that the degree they receive will equal employment. Therefore the college should research information regarding what exactly employers looking to hire MBA’s are looking for. If they are looking for certain qualities and skills from these potential employees the school needs to make sure to offer them. Another area of research would be to analyze the4 area and see if there is a need for an MBA program in the surrounding area. This could be related to competitiveness. If the product that the school is giving out which is the MBA program can be done while also increasing the schools funds and reputation. Are other programs already in progress?
