Case Study #2 Adams State is looking to incorporate a new general education program. The Williams plan is the best general education plan for Adams State because students will have a better , understanding about the richness of the world, be more likely to get promotions, and many alumni are working in fields with no apparent connection to their undergraduate majors. The first reason as to the Williams plan is better than the Ozawa plan is because it gives better understanding about the richness of the world. In a quote from the Campus Outlook Professor Donald Chan states, “We think that students should get an education here, not just get trained in a technical subject. We want students to graduate with an awareness of how rich this world is and how they can be a part of that richness.” If the students of Adams State incorporate the Williams plan they will be required to take 48 units of general education while the Ozawa plan requires only 21, thus allowing students to broaden their education. The second reason as to why the Williams plan is better for Adams State is because graduates are more likely to get a promotion. A quote from the Campus Outlook from Marjorie Paderewski states, “we’d really like to have it all-people both well trained and well educated. The people with the training do get most of the entry-level jobs. But the people with the education too get most of the promotions. Although, the Ozawa plan will allow graduates to get hired in entry level positions, it is more likely for graduates with more education to get promotions. The final reason why the Williams plan is better is because many alumni are working in fields with no apparent connection to their undergraduate majors. A statement from the Capital Post states, “Many of the alumni, who have been out of college between 5 and 15 years, are working in fields with no apparent connection to their

The Gary Plan failed the individual, but it does exactly what it was created for: to churn out an efficient workforce. “Education is the most powerful weapon, which you can use to change the world”.(1) When thinking about going back to school to finish my degree, I came upon this quote by Nelson Mandela. It touched me for two different reasons. The first, because I have not finished my own education; and second, because I am getting my degree in elementary education to be a grade school teacher. When trying to figure out which school would be best for my lifestyle and what I wanted to accomplish, there were several factors to consider. The main factors were degree, cost, time, and what fit my personality best. In today’s society, a college degree is a necessity. It is no longer an option or privilege. Most people feel the need to look good in the eyes of society. With that, comes a degree and with going to school for so long, comes a debt to be paid. WGU is by far the cheapest and quickest way to get a college degree. In today’s society, those are the top two factors when looking into going to school. With the economy being what it is, everyone is trying to better himself or herself to get a better job and make more money. If you’re looking to get your degree, WGU is the answer.…

The jury in a sexual harassment suit brought by a former high-ranking New York Knicks basketball team executive recently awarded her more than $11 million in punitive damages. They did so after hearing testimony during what the New York Times called a “sordid four-week trial”. Officials of Madison Square Garden (which owns the Knicks) said they would appeal the verdict. However, even if they were to win on appeal (which one University of Richmond Law School professor said was unlikely), the case still exposed the organization and its managers to a great deal of unfavorable publicity.…
