My friend Enrique was born in Mexico and moved to the United States when he was 5 years old. Enrique has two sisters and one brother. He grew up in an urban neighborhood and went to public school. Enrique is of the Catholic religion and is very involved with his church. He attends church regularly and his children attend private Catholic school. Spanish is Enrique’s first language and English is his second language. Enrique’s parents do not speak English very well and Enrique translates for them when needed. Enrique has remained very close to his family over the years. In his culture, family always comes first no matter what. Enrique’s family participates in many festivals in the Mexican culture and all festivals based on his religion. When cooking food, Mexicans use many different spices and herbs. Enrique’s spouse is from an American heritage and now speaks Spanish as her second language. His children have been taught English and Spanish and can speak both fluently. His family maintains there health by routine doctor’s visits. They prefer to try home remedies before prescriptions when ill. They protect their health by daily prayers and prayers at the bedside for those who are ill. They restore their health by meditation and
