The palm is the anterior part of the hand, it extends distally from the wrist joint to the end of digits. The palm,and the hand in general, consist of 3 groups of bones: eight carpal bones that are organized in two rows , five metacarpal bones and phalanges. In term of muscles, the hand contain two types of muscles that act on it: intrinsic muscles which are organized mainly in two groups the thenar and hypothenar compartements, the other group of muscles are the extrinsic muscles and these are located outside the hand in the forearm.
