Carl Olson's The Many Colors Of Hinduism
In “The Many Colors of Hinduism”, Carl Olson first introduced the practitioners of ancient vedic religion. From the division of two antithetical groups (Adityas and Danavas). Both groups aimed for creation, they represent death and life, being and nonbeing, therefore, they all symbolize the immortal life. Due to the division, the myth of Indra and Vrtra is told. Indra is the king of gods who killed Vrtra (a dragon who kept water of the world) by thunderbolt. Olson also introduces the term “Rta”, which is the primary intelligent order guiding the universe. “Rta is the law, unity, or rightness that underlies the orderliness of the cosmos” (40).
