Career Research Topic Graphic Designer
Choosing the right job can be quite unchallenging because this is how you prepare yourself for better things to come ahead in life. When I was younger in my teens, I would jump from job to job, until I got married and eventually ended up joining the US Navy. Choosing a major may be a tricky one because you really don’t know if it may follow-up to the right or perfect career as you wanted it. Picking the best career is a tough choice to make these days. There are so many choices, so many different aspects to consider. Money, the job setting, and how a specific job will affect family life. Growing up I thought about many different options, such as being a professional, specifically a marine-biologist, becoming a soccer star, and owning my own bar-club, can show the different areas I have thought about doing. For the time being though I am fairly certain on my current decision to major in Art and becoming a graphic artist. In the future, I also hope to one day own my own place, either a studio or a production company.

GRAPHIC DESIGNER/ARTIST

INTRODUCTION
Becoming a graphic artist not always was appealing to me. Over the years, after my teens and during my 14-year career in the navy, I did so much work in the business/customer service related field. That it made me so fluent on them but yet at the same time in a way, boring. Art was and will always be in my mind and deep in my heart. My late grand-father was an artist in Guadalajara, Mexico. And I believe that is why all of us Plata’s (family name) always finds the field of art a major role in our lives. During my high school experience, many must have thought that I was going to go onto college and immediately major in art. Times were tough back then for me because I was indecisive about going to college in the first place. I ended up going to CSU Dominguez Hills, but I only attended one semester. After several years and so many jobs or fields of work while and during

Does anyone have a hard time choosing what career or job which they really want to do in the future? I personally have two jobs that I am considering right now: actuary and physical therapist. Actuaries basically manage risk. They help organizations plan for the future and protect themselves from loss. Physical therapists use a variety of techniques to improve mobility, relieve pain and prevent permanent physical disabilities in their patients. The reason why I am choosing between these two jobs is very much related to my past experience. Since my youth, I was influenced by my elder sister who is very good in mathematics. Due to her influence, I have a big interest in mathematics. I wish my future job will be related to mathematics, which is why I considered becoming an actuary. In addition, I love to watch dramas that are related to medical education. In fact, I just finished watching a Hong Kong drama named ‘On Call 36 Hours’. It is a medical drama. After watching that drama, I have the desire to help those injured patients to recover from pains and injuries. Although many might think these two jobs are very different, they have very much in common.…

Most fourteen year olds have no idea what they want to be when they grow up. I guess you could say I fell into this same category. That is, until my Careers teacher gave me a life changing assignment. For this assignment, I had to pick a career and job shadow a person in that profession. I had no idea what direction to turn. Then, one day while sitting in the dental chair waiting for my dentist, I began mulling over different career possibilities. When my dentist came in to finish my exam, it suddenly crossed my mind that maybe dentistry was a possibility. I started paying attention to what he was doing and soon realized that this was something I wanted to learn more about. I remember how excited I was when I told my mom I had found the perfect person for my assignment.…

Choosing the career that I want to spend the rest of my life doing is something that was exceedingly difficult for me. It is hard to grasp the concept of selecting what profession is going to be right for me, something I will be interested in and want to pursue every day for the rest of my life. I cannot help but think what if I choose wrong? What if I wake up in 15 years and realize I hate my career? I have thought about different schools and jobs, as well as the pros and cons, for what seems like forever. Will I make enough money? Will I be able to pay my bills, keep my house, and own a new car? These questions troubled me for a while until it finally hit me. I needed to stop worrying about the 'what if's' and do something I am passionate about. My love for animals has always been the one constant thing in my life. I have always had pets and could not imagine what life would be like without them. Working with animals is something I know I will always be passionate about. And what is that saying, "Do something you love and you will never work a day of your life"?…

The article “Are You Deciding On Purpose” about the interview of author, speaker, and counselor Richard Leider really made me think about my life and what I want to do with myself. Leider brings up many great points in the interview and it was an eye opener for me after I finished reading the article. The first thing he mentions in the interview is how people are intimidated by all the choices we have now as career options. Nowadays, there are so many career paths to choose from that it overwhelms people and the decisions that they make. I think this is true for everyone and especially me. I thought about this for a while and I too do not have any idea what I want to do in my life. I have changed my mind many times about what I wanted to do as a career and I always thought about the money. After I finished reading the article, I realized that picking a career path is not all about the money. It’s about whether you enjoy what you are doing because you spend 60% of your entire life working. If I spent 60% of my entire life just working to pay the bills, I would be miserable by the time I’m retired because there wasn’t any satisfaction or fulfillment for me. I still don’t have any clue on what I want to do with my life but reading this article really changed my mind on a lot of things.…
