Published in The Career Quarterly, this article implicates the necessity of students being career-ready, and how comprehensive school counseling programs should effectively make students career-ready. “Career-ready” is the term used to describe one who is prepared for action in life roles, settings, and events with an emphasis on the career and the total person (Gysbers, 2013). The career-ready process begins in elementary school and continues on into middle school and high school (Gysbers, 2013). According to Gysbers, career-ready students are those with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to visualize and plan their futures. School counseling is viewed as a developmental program that contributes to the overall development and success
