My goals of excelling in marketing can only begin with earning an MBA. Although I have over three years of work experience in sales management, DePaul’s MBA program would provide me with the formal background in business that I currently lack coming from a liberal arts undergraduate background. The knowledge and experience gained from an MBA with a concentration in Marketing would provide me with the insight necessary to begin a marketing career in the sports industry, with the goal of reaching the managerial or executive level. The coursework for an MBA at DePaul would undoubtedly allow me to develop the skills needed to generate revenue for a team, event, league, athlete, sports organization, or sports manufacturer. Accordingly, I hope to learn more about the continuing globalization of sports, as well as the effect sports may be able to have on community development. I have been passionate about sports since my early youth and have always been intrigued about the intricacies and nuances that went into popularizing a sport or sporting brand. I have researched the effect athletics has on the global economic market, particularly since internet and viral marketing campaigns have simplified access to the best athletes and sports “products” from around the world. I only hope that I will eventually be in a position to help expand and expose the sports industry on a more global level.
My goal after graduating from DePaul’s distinguished Kellstadt Graduate School of Business is to attain an advertisement or marketing position with a sports enterprise (albeit professional sports franchise, professional sports league, advertising/marketing firm working with sports teams or figures, or sporting goods company).
