Carbohydrate Diet Analysis
After many years of thinking I was a good eater, I realized there are many adjustments I need to make to my regular diet for it to be more nutritious. By reviewing my regular eating patterns, I realized I eat too many carbohydrates a day. The amount of carbohydrates I consumed was more than double the RDA, Recommended Dietary Allowance. To help reduce my carbohydrate consumption, I plan on eating less cereal because that has become a go-to meal for me at college. Cereal can add up in sugar and carbohydrates quickly when it is eaten as a meal or in large amounts. I also plan to eliminate the amount of bread I eat, by reducing the amount of sandwiches I eat or resorting to salads instead. I will also try to eat less breaded meat and pick grilled …show more content…

When too much is consumed, it builds up, can cause damage to the liver and heart, and possibly lead to future diseases, such as diabetes. Most days, I did not consume enough calories, but it was not a major deficiency. To be sure I am eating enough calories a day, I plan to watch what I am eating and note how many calories are in each meal. Consuming enough calories helps give the body the energy it needs to get through the day, so I plan to watch what I am eating to be sure I am providing my body with enough calories. I also did not include enough fiber in my diet. To help get the recommended amount of fiber, I plan to eat more grains, beans, nuts, and …show more content…
Overall, I consumed a good amount of fats per day. It was slightly low compared to the Adequate Intake guidelines, but not a major deficiency. Therefore, I do not plan on adjusting my daily fat intake. My protein consumption was slightly high compared to the Recommended Dietary Allowance guidelines by the Dietary Reference Intake. I previously assumed that I consumed too much protein because I purposefully put it in my diet to help myself gain muscle mass. I will continue to consume protein similar to how I have been because my protein intake is not too much above the recommended intake to need adjusting. Proteins also help me feel more full and energized throughout the day, which leads to me having a better attitude as

Over the course of the three days, which were Friday, Saturday and Sunday: and figured this would give a good depiction of what I was consuming on a regular basis. In some places I was consuming more than I should be and in some I was consuming less than I should be. There were also those places were I was getting just the right amount. It is so interesting to me to be able to find out what I am consuming and how I am consuming it. Being an active male, it was most interesting of what I ate, what my average of the three days were, and the plan on how I would correct the way I eat to make it a more healthier lifestyle.…

According to the food pyramid, my diet is horrible considering what I have consumed in these 3 days. It shows that I need to start eating more, and better quality foods. My sugar intake is too high and should be reconsidered. Possibly I could swap out processed sugars for natural sugars; such as in fruit. It is obvious from the records I have provided that I do not take in as much (if any) fruit that one should be consuming on a daily basis. Thus, not only am I depriving myself of vitamins, I am also depriving myself of the fiber needed in order for my digestive system and metabolism to work as necessary. I will have to incorporate more whole grains with fruit and vegetables to act as roughage, as going to the bathroom proves difficult for me- most likely this is why.…

To this day, I have been aware of my eating habits as well as my need to secure exercise as a part of my life. As a part of eating healthy, eating low carb has always been a favorable choice for my family. That is to say, eating 20, or fewer, carbohydrates per day, while also eating high in protein, has been very effective for my family. This may seem like a difficult task, but in the long run, I know it’s worth it. If I do happen to obtain a disease, I’ll have a greater chance fighting the disease if I am healthier than to fight the disease when I am unhealthy.…

During my three day food intake I discovered that I only consumed 88 grams of protein. In these three meals I spent almost 40 dollars and I was short almost 100 grams of protein required for my weight. Four slices of pizza, and two double cheeseburgers produced the most protein. Oatmeal, beer, and coffee only counted for less than 10 grams. All six items consumed over the 3 day stretch accounted for carbohydrates. The items ranged from 10g to 100g of carbs. The only item with enough lipids was the McDonald’s oatmeal. The rest of the meals were relatively low. I need to make better planning to include more lipids into my health plan.…

The amount of food that I intake throughout the day the amount or portions of vitamins and minerals that I intake is not sufficient enough for my weight and height. Furthermore, being an athlete I do intense and vigorous workouts for more than 60 minutes daily. In result, the amount of time that it takes for my body to burn all of them, is much quicker than normal time due to the vigorous activity. The amount of vitamins and minerals that I intake needs to be increased in order for me to gain beneficial and necessary nutrition.
