Capstone Reflection Paper
Since arriving at DeSales University our group has been unknowingly preparing for our senior Capstone project. As a liberal arts college, we have been developing our skills in both our business related degrees as well as the fundamental teachings of DeSales. We have developed in our education, social, and practical skills, all which were applicable to our Capstone project. The project we helped with was a continutation of last years ShortsU.com business plan. The purpose of this year's Capstone was to update last years business plan, expand further on the marketing portion of the business plan, and help market for a fundraiser through the website Indiegogo. Though the majority of our Capstone was driven by a focus on the marketing of ShortsU.com, …show more content…
The main goal for our Capstone was to spread awareness for ShortsU.com through the go fund me on Indiegogo. As the main goal, both Nicholas and Jinsely had a more beneficial experience, being able to dive deep into their past four years of marketing classes and brought a unique aspect to the project. These two polar opposite backgrounds to marketing helped the creativity of our project which lead to an expansion of many of our advertising …show more content…
Charles Jobs, Marketing Professor at DeSales University. This consultation resulted from a friendship between Pr. Lehman and Dr. Jobs which caused our group to seek Dr, Jobs assistance. During the course of the semester a few brief meetings occurred between Dr. Jobs and our group. These meetings consisted of issues that Pr. Lehman had come across that needed a more professional opinion, a review of the Indiegogo advertising, and advice on the ShortsU.com business plan. Having a third party view of our Capstone benefited both Pr. Lehman and our group. It helped Pr. Lehman because we were able to solve most of the issues that we could not solve together. However, it also greatly helped our group. We had to take upon ourselves to not only meet with Pr. Lehman but work around our schedules and the schedule of Dr. Jobs to meet when convenient. We also learned the benefits of looking for a using a third party in a business plan. Overall our Capstone was a great experience to showcase our collective knowledge from the previous four years. All four members of our group had the ability to contribute a unique approach to development of our project. We had some issues throughout the semester, however we were able to come together with Pr. Lehman and work out ways to overcome them. Through overcoming the issues we had and the visible development that occurred our Capstone project was a major beneficial learning

The tension began to overlay the dark hall as I stood on the stage. Spotlights bored into my composure, illuminating my anxiety to the shadowy faces in the crowd. My partners and I were eagerly waiting for the results: the ultimate critique of our work. In previous years, Alliances in Marketing had struggled to inform students about events and club related information. Alliances in Marketing’s focus is on showing the importance of relationships and career development. Every year the club provides events and workshops to prepare students for the work force; however, no matter how valuable the training, the club struggles to reach students. As an Executive of Marketing in the student club, I was in charge of planning, filming, and editing videos for digital marketing campaigns. These videos were designed to help engage and inform students about resourceful club information and events. The videos would be shared through social media to best reach students. As a result, the club had one of it’s best years in terms of attendance and student engagement. The greater impact of my work in this leadership role is that the videos were designed to be evergreen; the club now plans to use the videos to reach students year after…

However the selfishness and self-centeredness is still quite disturbing. Charlae’s educational journey started with her attending Bagley Elementary then on to Cass Technical High School, and finally Howard University. She has excelled quite nicely.…

It seems like it was just yesterday that our class of 2011 walked in to John Glenn High School for the very first time as freshmen. I can still clearly remember how nervous and excited we all were to finally be with the “big kids.” Some of us were so scared we were sick, others were lost in the huge hallways amongst the tall crowd, and others were more ready than ever to go to each class that day. Honestly, it is hard to believe that that was four years ago, and here we are today reading our final speech assignments of high school to each other. In about a week, we will no longer be high school students, but instead we will be high school graduates and soon enough, college students. So as we longingly await May 21st, I will proceed with my final speech assignment about one of our very own classmates, Nicole Hentsch.…

Graduation is one of those awkward times in our lives when we are torn between the joy of our memories and the excitement of our future. Should we look back on what were the greatest four years of our lives – times filled with joy from the boisterous sounds of that first spring day out on the green, the aroma of chicken finger day in the cafeteria, the resounding ring of the University bells, or the calmness of the chapel? Or instead should we focus on the next stage in this journey called life? We’ve been impatiently waiting for this day for four years – and now, we just want to hit pause. We want to slow it down, and enjoy the last fleeting moments. Our lives will be forever altered after we toss our caps into the air.…
