13 January 15 The on going arguement between weather you can or cannot make friends on the internet continues to stir up arguements and points about why and why not you can or cannot make friends on the internet. After reading this essay you will find that making real friends on the internet can not be done. Due to the dangers of not knowing the person you are actually talking to. Trying to make friends off the internet takes time away from things in real life that can and should be done, and takes face to face interactions away. And lastly online friendships do not meet the requirements to keep a true friendship well and going. The defending arguement is that you can make friends on the internet. In some ways i can see this possible, because not all the time do people keep their credentials anonymous and openly share details about themselves with you online. Also sometimes face to face interactions do occur... On a screen, by using things like skype, omegle, tinychat etc. Friends online also might be nice enough to share their real life things with you which in that case would provide the requirements to keep a friendship going and strong. The dangers of online friendship can be very servre, many people have been attacked by sharing too much details with someone they think they know. "You can remain anonymous on the Internet. Twitter and Facebook are only two of the online connections people use today to stay in contact with friends and family. The internet is a place to interact with new people and a way to be exposed to strangers. The partial anonymity available online can be used as a mask for sexual offenders and psychos; they can appear to be ordinary normal people, and you have no way of really knowing what is the truth and what is a lie. Too much personal information is at risk on these social networking sites. You can 't really build a relationship with an online friend because on the internet…

I agree with the argument because you can be more social without a computer or phone. Jorge Cruz said in paragraph 5, “I think it’s important to face other people and speak up for yourself” I can agree with that because i don't have a phone but i do have a computer which i don't go on every day but i still make friend out of school. but if you on your computer or phone all day then you don't go outside and you don't make new friends and to have a real friend is to meet them face to face. You also can't have a girlfriend. In paragraph 4 Jorge Cruz said;”One over my friends was even involved in a relationship with a girl from another country, whom he met through the internet and never seen in person” I also agree with that because one of them…

Another journal written (Ramirez Jr., Wang 2008) “Continuing to interact via CMC, provides information that is significantly less expected.” Once again this information supports my argument that engaging in uncertainty reduction strategies online leads to faster disclosure of more personal information which can lead to less likeness and less likelihood of becoming friends with that…

It has now become easier for people to meet new friends on online platforms. The patience that is required to build a long lasting relationship is no longer there. Traditionally, people would spend days and even months trying to get to know each other. This was not done over the phone but through face-to-face interactions that made it possible for people to learn each other. This helped to grow the relationship from one level to another. However, the Internet has made it impossible for people to connect in real life. People are excited to meet other people online and they spend hours chatting on these platforms but never really get to know the person they are chatting with (Parasar). It becomes hard for such individuals to held real discussions when they meet face to face because they have become used to chatting online. The reason why many relationships are failing is because people have lacked the patience required to nurture a relationship. The Internet has led to the erosion of a foundation upon which a relationship can be built. People are quick to walk away from relationships and even marriages because they accessed information online on how to deal with their relationships. Communication has been greatly affected by the advancement of the Internet. People have become more comfortable with expressing their emotions on social platforms than they are on face-to-face…

When you live most of your life through social media you begin to have a feeling of alone and loneliness. This happens because of your lack human communication. Instead of speaking with people in person you mainly talk through internet access. When this access is not available the feeling of being alone takes over your body most of the time especially if you have no close family by. Also studies have shown that the more lonely a person is, the more time they’ll likely spend more time on Facebook trying to find online friendships or relationships. Neal Gabler’s article “The Social Networks” says “Facebook, in fact, only underscores how much traditional friendship-friendship in which you meet, talk and share – has become an anachronism and how much being “friended” is an ironic term” (par7). Sadly, it is true that people sometimes prefer to have more contact with friends through a social network, calls or texting than to be seen in person. The way people used to have coffee with friends on weekends, meet to chat about an important event that happened or just hang out with an old friend seem to have been lost along with the importance of real friendship. Now, people have more friends on Facebook that they used to have when social networks were not widespread, and probably they do not know 80% of their Facebook friends.…

There are countless amounts of pro’s and con’s that add up with both views toward the subject. For example, some feel like building a relationship like this online is just going to be nothing but a waste of time for the people engaging in the activity. More than likely the people you meet online aren’t in your nearby surrounding areas so people think to themselves “Why try and build a friendship when it can’t go anywhere past this ‘Online World’?” In this case yes, it might be a huge waste of time for yourself because there really isn’t much you can do to further your friendship past whatever it is the internet will limit you to. Yet, at the same time if you meet someone online and you felt some sort of special connection with that person you could always take the initiative and try to further your friendship beyond an “Online World” you can take the position to say “Hey, why don’t we meet up sometime?” and right away the factor of the whole “Online” thing is obliterated.…

A friend is a person whom one has a bond of mutual affection. Friend is defined many ways in many dictionaries because the definition of friendships varies from one person to the next. In college many think it’s “popular” or “cool’ to have a large group of friends. I on the other hand could care less about the number of people I call friend. In order to have a friend you must first know how to be one. It takes time to get to know someone to truly call them a close friend. Also it is vital that my friends have distinct characteristics so that our friendship can grow. What I want in a friend is something simple yet complex, when I choose my friends I would like them to be honest, confident, loyal, humble, positive, motivational, respectful, patient, generous and trustworthy. This paper will discuss the importance of each characteristic in detail.…
