I. INTRODUCTION
A. Background of the study

We all know that insects can be seen everywhere and the only way to prevent these insects are to use insecticides. For us, a house is a place of residence. It is usually a place in which an individual or a family can rest, store personal property, and prepare food in able for the house fulfils its function, we need to eliminate some factors that disturb us in doing these things. Examples are the insects. One of the easy ways to prevent insects is to use insecticides. This is the reason why I decided to make a liquid insecticide. There are many commercially available liquid insecticides in the market. The commonly used commercial liquid insecticide in the Philippines is quite unaffordable that is why we use chemical that may cause irritation. I planned to use all natural ingredients in the liquid insecticide in this study. Since the ingredient to be used is natural, the liquid insecticide to be made is more affordable and environment friendly. I also conducted this study because I wanted to show that the natural product insecticide can compete with those chemically made products. I wanted to prove that natural product insecticide are as effective as those chemically made insecticides, but even safer, human friendly, eco-friendly and cheaper.
B. Statement of the problem

The main problem of the study is to find out how can the cacao leaves be an effective insecticide. Specifically, it answers the following questions:

1. Can the cacao be an effective insecticide?
2. Which insecticide is more effective, natural or chemically made insecticide?
3. What can we benefit from using insecticides made form cacao leaves?
4. Is it possible to make an effective liquid insecticide out of the cacao leaves and eucalyptus?
5. Will the insects die once there sprayed with an insecticide?

These chemicals are now universally used on almost every farm and in almost every home across this country. They are “nonselective chemicals that have the power to kill every insect, the 'good ' and the 'bad, ' to still the song of birds and the leaping of fish in the streams, to coat the leaves with a deadly film, and to linger on in the soil.” Sadly enough, the destination of these insecticides are usually only a few annoying bugs among the thousands that exist (Carson par. 7).…

An insecticide is a substance used by humans to gain some advantage in the struggle with various insects that are considered “pests”. In the sense used here, a pest insect is considered undesirable, from the human perspective, because: (a) it is a vector that transmits disease causing pathogens to humans (such as those causing malaria or yellow fever), or other diseases to livestock or crop plants; or (b) it causes a loss of the productivity or economic value of crop plants, domestic animals, or stored foodstuffs. The abundance and effects of almost all insect pests can be managed through the judicious use of insecticides.…

It is important to know that most insects are beneficial rather than destructive. Some insects play an essential role as pollinators of flowering plants just like the bees and butterflies. Some of the products derived from insects are honey, beeswax and silk. Despite of this fact, we cannot simply ignore it knowing that the number of beneficial insects is greater than the number of destructive insects. An action is needed in order to prevent the growing population of insects. It seems that there is an insect for every plant and therefore every crop, and often every part of the plant. Insects are mostly controlled by means of chemical methods which are mostly preferred by farmers. We cannot get rid of insects, but we can control them in our own ways. Different kinds of insects are associated with the different kinds of trees and plants because insects make up the biggest class of the world’s animals. They are important in a way because they play a vital role in maintaining the balance of our ecosystem.…

Mosquito’s abound in tropical countries like the Philippines. They have been pestering land vertebrates for millions of years. Insecticides are either too harmful to both man and the environment or too expensive for the consumers. The purpose of this study is to create an environment-friendly, safe, effective and cheap mosquito repellant. Weeping willow leaves, tubang bakod seeds, tubang bakod seed hulls, onion peelings and almaciga sap were collected. The solid ones were pulverized and mixed together in three pans in 1:1:1:2:4 ratio. Two of the pans were given different amounts of the oil extracted from tubang bakod seed while the remaining one was given none. The mixtures were allowed to dry and were tested on mosquitoes for effectivity and on humans for acceptability. The results showed that tubang bakod has a significant repelling effect on mosquitoes.…
