Call Of The Wild Quotes
“The proper function of man is to live, not exist. I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.” Jack London said that. Jack London was the writer of “The Call of the Wild” It’s an adventure book. I think knowing that he wrote that book adds more to the quote, but I’ll go more into that in the next paragraph. This quote means a lot to me. It inspires me to take risks.
The quote is saying not to just exist, but to prove you’re alive. I’ve always had this sort of mindset, but I’ve never done anything adventurous. It does make me want to be more adventurous though. The person who said that quote, Jack London, wrote the book, ”The Call of the Wild”. That book has to do with sled dogs and going into uncharted territory. Which is risk taking. The characters were taking a risk just like Jack London said you should. This goes with the extreme sports articles we were reading. In “The World’s Most Dangerous Sports” it says “They love the associated paraphernalia and experimenting”. “They” being adrenaline junkies, People who love extreme sports. People who

I want to take a risk now. I want to explore the unknown, the uncertain. I want to get in a fight. I want to drag race, which I know is dumb because I don’t even have a driver’s license, but I want to do it. I want to jump out of a plane with a parachute while “It’s Gonna Be a Long Night” by Ween plays. I want to take part in the world’s most dangerous sports. I want to prove I’m alive. I know I’m getting a little too excited for a quote made by a guy who’s dead now, but see it from my point of view. I’m a high school freshman, who has never taken a risk in my life. I don’t do anything risk-taking or worthwhile. I want to be the type of person you see skitching on the back of a car while on their car like Marty McFly in Back To The Future. That’s why I like this quote so much it makes me want to do something I’ve never done

The beast is non-existent, yet it cannot be tamed. It is a figment of the human imagination, but it still causes fear. Sometimes, it only takes thought to produce fear, even in the bravest of minds. Thoughts have the ability to produce images, which leads the mind to believe that the beast is real. The author uses various techniques to portray the beast’s significance in “Lord of the Flies”. In this story, this “beast” is shown to be a symbol of hatred, causing the children to fear and despise it. Some of these techniques include symbolism, irony, and character behaviour.…

Fear exists in everyone. No one lives without fear. Being fearless is not required to be courageous, one has to overcome fears in order to possess courage. Risks are involved when overcoming fears and going against the norm. Risks come in different types, risking life, risking reputations, risking limb. The greatest risk “is not taking any risk” (Mark Zuckerberg). A person must have courage to endure each particular risk. A person who is not courageous enough to take risks will “accomplish nothing in life” (Muhammad Ali). Courage happens anytime, anywhere, and any day. Courage is experienced by all; no matter how young, old, wise, or foolish. The effect of courage may not be positive, however, the outcome is remembered. The rewards have the potential to be great, but so do the…

“The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences.” ( McCandless). Christopher McCandless a young man wanting to experience life to the fullest in the Alaskan wilderness without a plan. I support Cellarman's argument about McCandless is ignorant due to his lack of planning for his trip into the wilderness, but I disagree with him because I think McCandless courage nor his ideas are very inspirational.…
