Caitlyn Jenner: Should She's Wrong?
Throughout this discussion there were many great points made, whether agreeing or disagreeing with the article. From beginning to end there were many different biases. From my understanding of this entire article is, yes Caitlyn Jenner was not right, but I don't necessarily believe she's wrong either. Mia, Kendall, and Noah all made the point that you can not judge what you don't understand. Therefore if you were put in this same position plus the lights, camera, and action you would have no idea of what to do. All four opinions including my own were more towards the emotional side for Caitlyn. Mia made the statement that the kids of Caitlyn gave their opinion, maybe the children did act as everyone would think they have no longer claiming …show more content…
Instead the entire “Jenner side” accepts the decision their father has made, believe he is still a heroic and now brave father. Kendall said “what if your father came home and told you this?” The what if is always the part that chokes you up. If you could accept your father why not accept Caitlyn instead of judging her. Caitlyn is trying to make up for all the year his kids were without a second parent, she even lets them call her dad. Everyone positive opinion had the impression that since it took so long for the to actually receive the full story they then had time to think and understand. We all agree that “going through gender dysphoria issues” is not a valid reason to completely abandon your children for x amount of years. Yet, unless you have been through gender dysphoria you have no right to judge someone's experience, that's just your bias. Noah informed that when going through this phase all you worry about is accepting yourself and having others accept you. Basically being thrown under the bus and having her past medical records thrown into the media, is a pretty difficult situation to deal with. Especially when your own children are unaware of this

Even though the writer is very firm in her stance, throughout the article, she did not use a harsh tone. Instead, she uses a passive tone to convey her message. Also, she did not force her perspective on her audience but she gave room for her readers to develop their own opinions. She uses a “third person” pronoun, removing the subjectivity of the article and used first person pronouns only when she provided personal experience. She also kept each paragraph short and simple, to prevent overloading, of information for the readers and kept the flow of the article smooth. Thus, it’s a more effective way of…

Many watched Caitlyn Jenner with admiration and awe at her courage. Us Weekly, July 16, 2015 reported that not everyone was happy with the Caitlyn Jenner moment. ABC doesn’t use as much emotional language as news.com and the style comes across as more professional, despite this as the content itself has an emotional background there is still naturally emotion in the article. The article only briefly mentions the controversy surrounding the sale, placing it’s focus less on the events that led to the sale and more on the sale of the gun, of course this history is still talked about- as it is what gives the article some human interest. Moreover, only one direct quote of Zimmerman is utilised by the writer and the articles style comes across as a…

In the article “5 Reasons to Oppose Betsy DeVos”, author Lisette Partelow works to create further opposition to President Trump’s controversial education secretary. The central claim of the entire article is that Betsy Devos should not be in charge of the Department of Education. She clearly states this early on in the article, even in the title. She begins the substance of the article by saying it is not very difficult to see why DeVos would be a bad education secretary. She makes her personal bias very clear. Partelow writes that DeVos’s agenda will be “insidiously destructive”. Right away, the diction used by Partelow would likely dissuade people who support DeVos and Trump from being open to considering the arguments presented.…

Women everywhere would probably band together in support for Krista Kafer. Kafer’s article “Women in Public Eye Face a Rising Tide of Sexist Vitriol,” is arguing that sexist vitriol is increasing in attempt to diminish women in the pubic eye. An article on such a topic would get an applause for being right on the nose. However, if you were to take the time to examine her article, you’ll realize it’s adequate at best. Kafer failed to make a strong article.…

Everyone has a different opinion, because everyone has a different view about every issue. Most of our worldly problems today revolve around people disagreeing. Although, my topic was just resolved last week, it is still an argument amongst many people. The death of Sandra Bland, and the $1.9 million wrongful death suit her family will receive. This is an obvious argument for many people, not only in Texas, but it has the whole world talking.…

Anna stood up for what she thought was right and what she believed in. It was not because she was trying to be selfish or because she was jealous of all the attention Kate was getting from her parents. It was because she had lived her whole life for Kate. She was finally at the age where she made sense of what was going on. She didn’t want to be put on this earth to only help her sister. She wanted to be able to have her own destiny. She wanted to play with friends, play sports and she wasn’t allowed because her parents were too afraid of her getting hurt and not being able to donate to Kate. What her parents were doing to her was depriving her of a childhood. In my opinion it was completely unethical and wrong. I have a daughter of my own and I’m not sure I would take the same measures as the parents did. I love my daughter just as much, but I don’t feel that you should defy nature. Nature has its plan set out for everyone. God has…

The subject of abortion is a very touchy matter in today’s society. Numerous people who feel abortion is a morally wrong thing to do, call themselves pro-life. Those who believe a woman can make the choice whether or not to have an abortion are pro-choice. It’s up to every individual to have an opinion on the topic in regards to what they feel is right. However, is it appropriate to force one’s beliefs on another person? Wouldn’t that be a breach of our first amendment, the separation between church and state?…

This was a hard article to read because of my religious belief and where I stand as an adult. I understand that people are entitled their opinions and beliefs. Megan Padilla made the choice of aborting her pregnancy after she and her husband was told that their son would have severer medical issues. I have four children, ranging from twenty-two to nine. My nine year-old is autistic and needs constant attention. I cannot and begin to understand why one would want to kill a life for any reason. I read the Mary Fisher story. There are plenty of bias and fallacies examples Mary speaks of in this article. Mostly talking about how people are prejudiced and judgmental against people with the HIV virus. How people show no compassion and are so very cruel to the AIDS victims. Mary talks about how her family has shown affection to her through this difficult time but there are many other AIDS victims out there that do not have that. What they get are people being mean and treating them as outcasts. Some examples of rhetorical devices in this article could be where Mary talks about the black infant struggling with tubes in the hospital or the lonely gay man whose family has rejected him.…

This article is biased against abortions. The point of this article was to show the consequences women face when they have an abortion in later pregnancies. In my opinion, this article is reliable since the studies were conducted by a physician from Mayo Clinic, not just an average joe guy trying to get his two cents in.…

It is not her fault. My Cousin Brittany did not choose that life. Will Hunting did not choose that life. No one chooses that life. People overlook the agonizing pain others are subjected to and instead choose to label and berate those born into poverty, born into a shitty situation, but like Sean McGuire whole heartedly spews, “It's not your fault. It's not your fault!”…

In the past, most gay and lesbian parents lived secretive and protective lives. Not only did gay parents have to face his or her coming out issues and separation from spouse, but also face coming out to their children. Because more and more lesbian and gay families choose to have children, they are also more out about whom they are. "This means that they are showing up in fertility clinics for information about attempting pregnancy, they are coming to adoption agencies stating clearly the nature of their family, they are going to attorneys for information on second parent same-sex adoption, and they are going to PTA meetings and little league games with the same enthusiasm as other parents" (Lev, 2002 p.2).…
