E1- describe the development of children in a selected age range and in TWO (2) areas of development.
All children are different and develop at a pace specific to them. Some children develop earlier than others and some never fully develop. Lots of things can affect development such as the environment they are brought up in or their abilities and disabilities. Each child develops physically at different pace but a child of 12 months should be able to stand alone briefly and maybe take a few steps. Also they should be able to sit down from a standing position. They are for grows motor skills, for fine motor skills a 12 month old should be able to clasp their hands together, feed themselves with a spoon and use the pincer grasp and release hold intentionally.

All children are different when it comes to social development some children don’t enjoy the company of other children but some do. A child of 12 months should be able to play alone or with other children happily for increasing periods of time. Also they feel shy or anxious around strangers and usually cry when their parents leave. A child’s development can be affected if the child doesn’t get many opportunities to be around children their own age.

E2- describe the development of children in a selected age range, different from E1 and in TWO (2) areas of development.
The older children get the more skills they develop. The physical development of a 6-7 year old is a lot more advanced to that of a 12 month old. A 6-7 year old should be able to hop on either leg, ride bikes without stabilisers and climb on larger apparatus, this would be there gross motor skills. Using their fine motor skills a 6-7 year old should be able to catch a ball with one hand, have legible writing and may be able to tie laces.
