Issue: Does Danimark have a legal duty or an ethical obligation to disclose Nelipern's role in the selection process to potential investors? Is it enough if Danimark's marketing materials to potential investors disclose that Nelipern helped select the portfolio, or should Danimark also disclose Nelipern's adverse interests in the performance of the portfolio? Is this situation any different from a transaction in which an investment bank sells stock belonging to one client to another client? Further consider I-Analytics, International. If I-Analytics uses its own methods and approves the CCBS in the portfolio, how, if at all, should that affect Karol's analysis? Should it matter whether the offering circular states that I-Analytics selected the portfolio? Should it matter that Danimark plans to buy the securities for its own firm account? Discuss.…

The government could have placed tighter constraints on the credit market; the government agencies charged with managing banking policies and procedures could’ve formulated a policy that would require that banks were only able to hedge a certain amount of liability as long as they had enough capital to cover double the amount of the liability. The government could also have placed more stringent regulations on banks and related financial institutions to provide proof that the potential buyers of homes could fiscally make the required home/mortgage payments in lieu of the poor economy. This could have been accomplished by verifying their credit score, annual salary, and reviewing 6-12 months of the potential homeowner’s financial statements to ensure their candidacy and responsibility. Another regulation that could have averted the 2008 credit disaster would be requiring all potential home buyers to take a financial course that included content covering how to read legal contracts” or something similar. Yes, this additional step would prolong the home buying process but in the long run it would potentially weed out the vast majority of homeowners that would likely default on their mortgages.…

Internal communication within a company or business can be defined as “both "official" communication -- memos, guidelines, policies and procedures, etc. -- and the unofficial communication… -- the exchange of ideas and opinions, the development of personal relationships, and the proverbial conversation around the water cooler” (CTB, 2013). The most effective way to communicate with your boss is to use clear, succinct and direct language. I would also suggest employing communication methods (face-to-face meetings vs. email, etc.) that you recognize to be your bosses chosen communication method(s). Internal communication with a superior should typically be void of emotion; “Maintain an even and professional tone throughout. If you need to communicate with your boss about a personal problem, a problem with a co-worker, or some other issue that causes you to feel emotional, wait until you are clear-headed and the emotion has passed before attempting communication” (Reeves, 2014). When communicating with a peer there tends to be more lax in formalities and sometimes diction. Business peers are colleagues – they tend to have similar incomes and status in the office thus speaking to them can be similar to speaking with a classmate, friend, or neighbor. When communicating with a subordinate, a person whose business “rank” is lower than the position you hold, I’ve found both through personal experience and through research that communication either takes an air of superiority vs. inferiority – the subordinate worker is talked down to and made to feel less-than. Conversely, when communicating with a subordinate many persons assume a position of empathy and accommodation – they remember what it was like being a subordinate either positively or not, and want to pass along the necessary information to their colleagues with an air of compassion while also educating on the dos and don’ts of corporate life. There would certainly be differences in the…

Our text defines self-esteem as “a belief about how a person evaluates his or her self-worth as part of an overall self-evaluation” (Baack, 2012), whereas self-efficacy is the “extent to which people believe they can perform a behavior to produce a particular desired outcome” (Lu, Chang & Lai, 2011). Self-esteem and self-efficacy are interrelated; using this graduate degree from Ashford as an example – having successfully completed an undergraduate degree with honors at Ashford provides me with the high self-efficacy that I can also complete a graduate degree. Similarly, completing courses with good grades boosts self-esteem by reinforcing a positive self-image. On the contrary, if a person failed to achieve a goal, like graduating from college, their self-esteem would be low(er) and their self-efficacy about higher education would also be low. An external forces that can impact self-efficacy are persuasion and encouragement. These forces can come from peers, colleagues, family, or romantic partners (Baack, 2012), and help to strengthen a person’s innate belief in themselves, which can translate into successes in other areas of their life.…
