Service System"

I interviewed a friend of mine - Amanda Chen - a female shopper about her experiences and expectations of shopping online. Shopping online is the act of purchasing products or service via Internet, involving searching for the demanded products/service and suitable retailing sites, evaluating in term of value, quality and price… then get to drop the items to your virtual shopping cart, adopting the most suitable payment method, then set them delivered from those websites to your house. As the enormous spread of the Internet, online shopping became a relatively part of customer’s shopping habit to some extent and furthermore, represents a new modern lifestyle trend. Business must gain a secured position in this market trend with expectation of future progress, to act correspondingly to integrate and adopt a new model of retailing.!

Interview Reflection"

In general, it can be said that the interview went down smoothly yet there are few problem. In fact, Amanda was with another friend so I invited her to our interview, expecting that the information would be more diverse. Regarding our relationships, Amanda happened to be an Acquiescent Respondents and her friend - Alice was more likely to be an Anxious Respondent. I didn’t presume that there would be two interviewee at the same time, therefore it took me a while to comply and get possibly the most accurate information. What I did was creating a friendly atmosphere, sitting in the middle and asking different types of questions to each person. For an Acquiescence Respondents like Amanda, I tend to ask specific or close questions - for instant: “Do you use home delivery?”, secretly enforcing her to give her own opinions without being influenced. Amanda went from just smiling, knocking her head and repeatedly saying “yes”, “I totally agree”, “of course”… to a more calm position, interpreted the questions more carefully: she was even rephrasing my words and gave more open answers. For Alice, on the other hand, I tried to blur the line between us and made her more comfortable to talk. At first, she was aware of a comparatively “stranger” like me, sat cringing in the corner of the sofa. Therefore, I started up with off-the-rail questions, asking about her background information and shared a bit of mine showing the similarities… Little by little, the respondent appeared to interact more effectually: she responded with more positive attitude, made hand gestures and even gave more detailed answers. Nevertheless, if I was able to conduct the interview again, I would do it a little bit differently. Instead of doing separated interviews at the same time which took more efforts and time-consuming, I should have utilized the relationship of Amanda and Alice, to operate the interview as a discussions between friends and friends. This way could help me explore more new aspects while at the same time, my interviewees could be having more pleasant time. Another limitation is the time. The interview’s length is within one hour with the with great amount of works that were needed to be done step by step. As in view of the fact that the information is not fully accessed, I only conjectured the most relevant outcomes as possible. Anyhow, I believe with just three or four outcomes, a business that has the need for redesigning their e-commerce strategy or reinforcing their online model might found these quite valuable. !...
