Distinguish between efficiency and effectiveness in management. (5 marks)

Efficiency refers to being productive at work, to use resources – time, equipment, people, money, raw materials, etc.-wisely & cost-effectively. An efficient manager will strive to maximize productivity at work. Efficiency can be calculated by the formula: output/input.
Effectiveness refers to making the right decisions & to successfully carry them out so that they achieve organizational goals. A manager can be efficient but not effective. Effective management enables customers, employees and the general public to be satisfied

Which manager, Gaga or Madonna, is more efficient as a manager? Explain. (6 marks)

Gaga is more efficient as a manager. Gaga’s effiency is (9,000,000/300,000) 30 units whereas madonna’s efficiency is (10,000,000/500,000) 20 units. Hence, Gaga is more productive as she is able to use resources - people, money, raw materials, etc.-wisely & cost-effectively

Which manager, Gaga or Madonna, is more effective as a manager? Explain. (6 marks)

Madonna is more effective as a manager as she’s made a better decision to use the second cheapest form of production which does not emit pollutants into the external environment hence enables customers, employees and the general public to be satisfied. Whereas Gaga made the decision to source for the cheapest form of production for her factory, thus enable her to get maximum profit for the company, this means a higher level of productivity. however this method causes pollution, which, unfortunately, caused the release of some pollutants into the air and soil that could cause long-term harm to the health of people living nearby hence causing adverse secondary effects and causing the general public to be dissatisfied

Hence gaga is not doing what is right by disregarding the health hazards

Madonna didnt choose the same method as she didn’t want to endanger the health of the residents, she decided to
