Picture yourself behind a “sticker bombed” car. You have a kid in the back seat and he/she notices the decorated bumper. He/she asks, “what's this”, “can you read them to me” or “what does that mean?” We all know that kids are curious, tiny creatures who asks questions within a question and goes on and on and on. Well, to explain what a “bumper sticker” philosophy is to someone on the verge of studying philosophy for the first time, you must define your terms. What is a bumper sticker you may ask? A “Bumper sticker” is literally what it says it is- a sticker on a bumper. A “Bumper sticker” philosophy are stickers you see on cars with certain sayings like "sh*t happens", "honk if...", “vote for…” or something along the lines of that. Bumper stickers
For instance, if someone has a bumper sticker saying “sh*t happens”, it could relate to an existentialist perspective on life. This phrase acknowledges that life is full of unpredictable events and bad things happen to people for no particular reason. People often place these stickers onto their bumpers just for the laughs or to entertain the drivers behind them. These bumper stickers can also say a lot about the driver, or essentially, the owner of the car. He/she may want to get a point across and freely express who they are. We all enjoy communicating and adding our own personalities onto the things we own. As for the exterior of a car, an inexpensive bumper sticker, that is eye-catching and affordable, can add to whatever you want to say. It gives drivers the freedom to be creative, get their word across, or just to give fellow drivers a glimpse of who they are.
