Kudler Fine Foods is a growing local upscale fine food store in San Diego. Kudler Fine Foods has three locations and specializes in bakery and pastry products, fresh produce, fresh meat, seafood, condiments, package foods, cheeses, and dairy products. Kudler Fine Foods mission is to “offer each customer a delightful and pleasing shopping outing.” With a mission statement, such as theirs Kudler Fine Foods wants to partner up with a loyalty rewards program company. This loyalty rewards program will allow customers to earn points for airfare upgrades, gifts, and other specialty foods. Kudler Fine Foods also plans on using customer data from the rewards program to help with the way the company does business. The type of data that will be collected is customer shopping habits. Before any of this can take place, Kudler Fine Foods must consider the issues that can arise when implementing this rewards program. One issue is information security because it will be Kudler Fine Foods responsibility to keep all customer information confidential. If customers do volunteer for the rewards program, they are placing trust in Kudler Fine Foods. Kudler Fine Foods have to follow the privacy rights laws and be cautious of overwhelming customers with ads and phone calls. Kudler Fine Foods needs to have a working and proven secure information system before they can start processing loyalty point’s applicants. One technique that can be used by Kudler Fine Foods is a verification process for its customers. A company called Axway would be a perfect fit for Kudler Fine Food. Axway would work well for Kudler Fine Food, because of their validation service. Axway validation services consist of smart card login, network access (including wireless), or other sensitive electronic transactions. Banks, businesses, governments, and defense organizations

A concern for both customer and Kudler Foods is security. Kudler Foods needs to collect personal information from customers to offer specials through e-mail, mail, and for collecting geographical information. A customer needs to show trust to give out personal information, which is why Kudler Foods is legally obligated to protect this information. Web security will be in place for sending e-mail offers to specific customers. This security will be a part of employee training and the employee will fully understand what measures to take to prevent any theft. When training a new employee background checks, orientation, and paying a trainer is only a few costs to consider. This can become costly, but is worth the trouble when considering the cost of a lawsuit.…
