Brownies Short Story
This type of conflict is shown in the story Brownies, where the protagonist Laurel is conflicted on whether or not to stay reserved to herself or to speak up. When the troop corners the white girls, Laurel is not sure if she should share her ideas with her troop or to stand up for the white girls. “If I spoke even a word, I could count on someone calling me Snot.” Person vs. Self conflict is also conveyed in the story Our Lady of Peace. A new teacher named Lynnea is confused by the students that she teaches. They do not listen to her and are constantly misbehaving. Lynnea doesn't know if it is how she teaches that is causing these problems, so she tries different methods to try and calm her class. A transfer student joins the class and is motivated to learn. …show more content…
She alarms counselors by saying that if she could be anything, she would be a revolver. During her first year at this new school, Dina is still not sure about herself, however she talks to Heidi as she sees her as a fellow social outcast. Slowly, Dina reveals her gradual and skeptical realization of self and her tendency to want to be alone. At the end of the story, Dina imagines Heidi visiting her and saying, “Open up.” which is precisely what she can not do. She is afraid of revealing herself and feeling vulnerable. Another example of person vs self conflict is in the story Geese. In this story, Dina is rethinking her decision of moving to Japan. “... she had done the wrong thing.” Dina originally went to Japan just for “pleasure” and to get away from home. However, Dina becomes stuck in Japan with no job, and she must find a way to make some money. Dina is conflicted about doing the right thing instead of stealing like her roommates. Eventually, she was forced to sell her body to a businessman in order to survive. Later, she thinks about how this whole situation could have been avoided if she had done something

The second piece of literature I chose to use to support my opinion is the play Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller. The conflict is considered as man vs. himself. Willie the main character is always at a constant conflict with himself he must try to make himself known to other people but he cannot because he is an insecure, self-deluded traveling salesman who is facing insanity he can longer work up to his full potential…

It is inevitable for one to avoid conflicts when it affects them personally. It is ordinary for one to conform to betrayal, deceit, false accusations and many other various ways in an attempt to fulfil their desires and objectivity. Although people may engage in conflict for personal reasons, some do not engage in conflict deliberately but were instead drawn in because of the conflict occurring between others. With this, people who are trapped in the middle must force themselves to take a side or form a judgement in order to benefit themselves or the people around them and hence engaging in conflict for their personal reasons.…

This essay is manly about the conflicts with two very different climbers on the ascent and descent of the fatal climb on everest in 1996. Rob Hall. Rob I believe had a conflict of person vs self because in his heart he didn't want to leave his customer up on the mountain he wanted to go down together, When Rob could have gotten himself down absolutely fine. Rob had the courage that no one else would have and that's is that he would leave no man behind, even though his teammates down bellow wanted him to come down that once he was alone he was to frozen and exhausted to move that's also why I think his conflict was person vs nature. Because the storm was too bad for his teammates to go up and get him but also that the storm and carrying his teammate exhausted him.…
