Brigid's Hope Case Study

Brigid’s Hope is an agency located at Prairie downtown in Harris County Houston Texas. It is named after St. Brigid’s, a fifth century Celtic saint known for her wisdom, compassion, hospitality, and healing ministry. In 1998, it was known as an outreach project of Brigid’s place, a non-profit organization headed by Reverend Betty Adams of Christ Cathedral; In 1998 it became program of the Beacon meaning a place where homeless people becomes and feel confident. Its mission is to reduce the recidivism rate of women returning from prison and homelessness in transition. The agency goal is self-sufficiency, stability, independent living, employment, emotional, and physical well-being. Meaning these women who are coming out of the prison will be ready to accept the offer of the Brigid’s hope for the provision of the services of transition into
These women must also be ninety days of documented sobriety in a halfway house or other facility that will refer them, must be referred by Case Manager, Social workers, or probation officer, and willingness to a motivation for a change. The program focus more on macro and mezzo level of practice thereby women as a community and individual has to set attainable goals, as well provide mentors from the community, in addition to Counselling, life skills training, mentoring, and Coordination of community resources. To successfully complete the Brigid’s Hope program, they are mandated to cooperate with the mentors, therapist and the agency staff. Follow all the rules for being Brigid’s hope clients and obtain employment within three months of entering the program.
