1. Executive Summary
Almost half the population of the earth now uses mobile communications. At 3.2 billion as of 2012, the 4 billion mark is expected to be passed in 2018. (Global Mobile Market 2013). Ingram Micro Mobility (IMM) is the global leader in mobile device lifecycle services. IMM provides their customers in all sections of the global mobile device industry with a full suite of end-to-end supply chain and customization solutions, delivering them with the highest level of customer service and commitment. This essay aims to discuss about the global logistics strategy of Ingram Micro Mobility to gain a competitive advantage over their competitors.

2. Introduction of Ingram Micro Mobility
Founded in 1989 by Robert J. Laikin and with mobile headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana as Wholesale Cellular U.S.A. Inc, the company changed its name to BrightPoint, Inc in 1995 and was then acquired by Ingram Micro, a Fortune 100 company in 2012. This allows the world’s largest technology distributor and leading logistics provider for the IT industry worldwide to become a global leader in device lifecycle services for the wireless industry. This company was renamed Ingram Micro Mobility and would be the mobility arm of the group’s business. Ingram Micro Mobility has regional operations in more than 35 countries and customers in over 75 countries. The company has long term relationship with leaders in all segments of the wireless industry as the company provides customized services through over 100,000 points of sale and to over 25,000 B2B customers worldwide. Customers and manufacturing partners include HTC, Motorola, Nokia, Blackberry, Samsung, T-Mobile, Sprint, Telefonica, Vodafone, Verizon and Telenor among others. In 2011, Ingram Micro Mobility handed over 112 million wireless devices worldwide. (Ingram Micro Mobility 2013).
