March, 09th, 2015 – Navi Mumbai, India: Marketreportsonbrazil.com presents a report on “Brazil Tourism Report”. The report also analyses the growth and risk management strategies being employed by some of the leading hotel players in the Brazilian tourism sector as they seek to maximize these tremendous growth opportunities.
Brazil's main goal for 2015 is to prepare for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio and ensure that all sites are completed on time. However, in 2015 the country's tourism industry faces domestic economic uncertainty and a potential slowdown in tourist arrivals from Argentina. The Brazil Tourism Report examines the significant long-term potential being offered by the local tourism industry, especially as the country will host the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. However, the report also highlights long-term structural weaknesses facing Brazil's tourism market, particularly in the realm of national transport infrastructure and the shortage of hotels across the country. The latter issue indicates long-term development potential but could lead to supply shortages during the major sporting events. The report also analyses the growth and risk management strategies being employed by some of the leading hotel players in the Brazilian tourism sector as they seek to maximize these tremendous growth opportunities.

    A Report on Brazil

Being the fifth largest country in the world by surface area and population, and recently emerging as one of the fastest growing global economies , Brazil can hardly be overlooked as a potential target of investment, especially in the light of the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympics. Nevertheless, an immediate word of caution is at place here. Even though Brazil is 25% of the highly hyped BRIC-countries, the engine seems to show some hiccups, as it is revealed that due to high interest rates and an overly appreciated national currency, the Brazilian economy in 2011 had its second-worst performance since 2003 (2.7% growth versus 7.5% in 2010) . As a result, Brazil is losing international competitiveness and is being outperformed by its fellow BRIC-nations . This is also noted in a recent report from Nasdaq, in which it is claimed that a central bank survey showed forecasts of a growing inflation and declining economic growth .…

The Olympic Games have no predetermined influence on any nation’s economy. Throughout history there have been several examples of both prosperity and damage to a country’s economic system due to hosting the games. While damage to an economy is rare, cases such as Munich in 1972 and Montreal in 1976 demonstrate the negative impact that hosting the Olympics can bring. Though there are no directly quantifiable effects, studies by economist Jose Usera from Goldman Sachs (cite source) explain the historical factors of a nation that are typically followed by a successful economic impact. Tangible elements of the Olympics that can influence an economy are aspects regarding tourism, ticket sales, and commercial activity. However the unquantifiable factors hold greater value- the social behaviors of a host country’s citizens, business environments, and even the general expectation for the games themselves. Several historical factors that have shown Olympic economic success are currently shown by Brazil.…

Rio De Janiero is one of Brazil’s largest cities and selected for the Olympics this August, unfortunately, chosen over Chicago! It is a city that has a large population of poor people so hopefully the tourism will help this country economically. The article that was in the Chicago Tribune on June 30, 2016, “Olympic insecurity seeps into Rio: Brazil’s fiscal crisis prompts police units to call for handouts – even for toilet paper,” had information about the games and the city’s planned security. Given all the terrorist actions lately, security is a huge concern for both Rio and visitors. Brazil is counting on tourism to boost their economy and offset the enormous costs associated with hosting the Olympics. However, if there are any concerns about safety, it could affect the number of people traveling to see the event, and the economic outcome will have a negative affect on Brazil’s economy. The theme of geography would be world-wide security and the desire, or no desire, to travel to Brazil, along with political and government control. According to our textbook in Chapter 10, “the dramatic physical geography of Rio de Janeiro contributes to the strong pride Brazilians feel for their city.” However, the mix of beaches and marinas along with poor favelas create a different view for the tourist (White et al. 326). With the Olympics fast approaching, the government should be trying to clean up the city and add more security in the areas high in crime, like the favelas, but due to limited funds, they can’t. In the Chicago Tribune article, the writer reported that “Brazil is suffering the worst recession in decades and Rio’s acting governor has declared a state of financial disaster this month, largely to bolster spending on security as the world’s spotlight turns to the city” (Barchfield 2016, par. 2). In fact, it states that the…

Preparing for the Olympics, hospitality industry needs to consider the impact of tourists during the Olympics time and beyond. It involves the pre and post Olympic stays of the tourist. The hoteliers are creating a unique atmosphere and spending lots of money for the Olympics. Hospitality industry has challenges to recover all the money which they spend for Olympics, which depends on the strategies which they will use after post Olympics. The Olympic Game is now becoming the most important event in the calendars of sport tourism and is also acting as a catalyst for the growth of a tourism destination’s product.
