I, Brandi Carr, lived in Houston, Texas in a single-parent household with my mother, Tina Carr, until 2013. My mother was not employed and we depended wholly on government assistance such as welfare and social security.
When I was 14 years old, while living with my mother; I developed an autoimmune disorder that went untreated for months. Upon receiving medical treatment; a police investigation was launched over the severe nature of my illness. It was determined that my illness had progressed quickly due to lack of medical attention.
