Brain Lateralization Essay

For many years, there has been a myth of brain lateralization. It is believed that there are preferences over the two types of thinking based on a person’s brain dominance. Theories says that there is a left brain and a right-brain that controls the person’s thoughts. Our understanding of the brain and mind interaction has changed through studied that offers us a clearer picture of the brain and their bizarre forms of intellect. A substantial amount of research has been done in hopes of understanding this concept and correct any misconceptions. However, the scientists, biologists, and psychologists that has studied this matter have all obtain a different outcome from their research. Is the concept of brain lateralization authentic, and if so what qualities does a person possess that determines whether a person is a left brainer, right brainer, or otherwise?

To many, it is evident that the disconnected halves of the brain perform different function as far as cognitive abilities.

A countless number of people have gained interest in understanding the case of the brain dominance of the other. The brain is constantly performing many functions at the same time such as thoughts, emotions, and sending messaged through other organs in the body., studied the trait that individuals possess that helps determine which hemisphere of the person’s brain is most dominant. A survey was held with a group of subjects with no knowledge of the variables being used. The subjects were observed as they were asked multiple questions that required thinking. As a result, , noticed that after the questions had been asked, the immediate flickering of the subject was to glance left or right. The direction of the initial look, while the subject thought about the answer to the question, was consistent with classifying the subject as a left brain dominant or right-brain dominant.
