Boyz N The Hood
Despite the incoherent special effects and relying on clichés about young black men, Boyz N The Hood is an inspiring and thought-provoking film, which features riveting performance by Cuba Gooding Jr.

Synopsis Boyz n the Hood:
The story opens on a normal South Central, Los Angeles day. Tre styles is a smart kid whose pride and slick mouth in school causes his teacher to take disciplinary actions and calls his mother. As a result Tre’s mother Reva, decides the best thing for both of them would be to send Tre to live with his father, Furious Styles. Living with his father Tre is forced with rules keeping himself occupied, it was his father’s way of raising a man and avoids becoming a kid in the hood.     The organization of the Gangster Disciples and their battle plans were created by Gangster Disciple's chief, Larry King Hoover. They modeled this after Chicago's Italian Mafia, the top-down organization has always strived for discipline, respect, and to respect the hierarchy.     “Boyz N the Hood” is one of the many films from the 1990’s that displayed gang violence among African-Americans in urban areas such as “Juice,” “South Central,” and “Menace II Society.” However, “Boyz N the Hood” is known for more than just depicting violence. The Library of Congress had place it on preservation in its’ National Film Registry and even referred to it as “culturally significant” in 2002. Never realizing it after watching it the first few times, this film gives a perspective on what the typical African-American family is like during this period. 2 of the families the movie focused on the most were Tre’s and Doughboy’s.     Boyz in the Hood follows one particular group in South Central Los Angeles. Trey Styles along with his friends Ricky, Doughboy, and others all grew up in the same neighborhood living with various struggles, some in common. Trey moved to live with his dad at the age of 10, Ricky and Doughboy, half-brothers, lived across the street from him in a single parent household.
