Boxers Case Study
The Pacific University men’s basketball controlled the contest, shooting at a 50% (35-for-70) clip en route to an 83-45 win over Portland Bible College on Tuesday night in Forest Grove.

The Boxers (1-1) had 13-different players contribute to the scoring ledger including J.B. Ewell (Portland, Ore.) and Shayne Rixie (Hillsboro, Ore.), who scored 15 and 10 points, respectively. Rixie lead a Pacific bench that outscored the visiting Wildcats bench by a 45-3 margin. Pacific handed out 21 assists on its 35 field goals with R.J. Collins (Hollister, Calif.) and Michael Joseph (Anchorage, Alaska) each with five. Plus, the Boxers held an advantage on the boards with a 46-26 margin in the win. Three-different players had six rebounds for Pacific.

The Wildcats (0-7) were led by a 19-point, 8-rebound effort from Trey Merriweather. Portland Bible was in front for nearly all of the first six minutes of the game. The Wildcats’ Skylar Geisser made a layup with 15:53 to play in the first half that put the visitors ahead 15-9. In the second half, Pacific held Portland Bible to just 18.5% (5-for-27) shooting after the Wildcats shot 50% in the opening half. Plus, the Boxers outscored the Wildcats, 28-4 on points in the paint and 18-3 in bench points in the final 20 minutes.

Next, the Boxers will take their first road trip of the season when they travel to Santa Cruz, California for the Scotts Valley Hilton Classic hosted by UC Santa Cruz. The Boxers will face the host Banana Slugs on Friday, Nov. 25 at 1:30 p.m. and take on Redlands on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 2 p.m. in a neutral-site game.
