Box Jellyfish
The Box Jellyfish are an extremely lethal creature, and they also known as Boxfish, Sea Wasp. Fire medusa, or just Stinger. They are claimed to be the most venomous marine animal known to human and it has sting, which is often deadly. They are invertebrate and present in a rounded box shape, and they belong to the class Cubozoa; they are not true jellyfish, although they show many similar characteristics with jellyfish. I believe that the box jellyfish are the most dangerous animal in the world because they have special-purpose eyes, poison, special body structures that help them be the successful survivor in the environment. First, the specialized true eyes complete with retinas, corneas, and lenses, and the eyes are located on each of the four sides of their box shape body. It allows the box jellyfish to detect specific …show more content…
Surprisingly, the box jellyfish also have 20 simple eyes that do not form images, but able to detect light and dark; therefore, they have a total of 24 eyes, which it helps them locate, capture prey and avoid objects. In order to be the most dangerous animal, they are well known as the most poisonous creatures. When an object touches the cnidocil of the nematocysts on tentacle; the thread is discharge and fire to inject the poison into the prey. The thread is a molecule called porin, which creates tiny pores in red blood cells, it allows potassium to leak out. When the plasma potassium gets too high there’s no more electromotive force then the heart cannot beat and it can also damage the nerves cells which it could cause shock immediately, so it kills the victim within a few minutes after being stung by the box jellyfish. However, carrying some vinegar in the aid kit is a brilliant idea because pouring it on the wound as first aid can deactivate the rest of nematocysts from firing out the

Some of the many adaptations the starfish has are the adaptation to re-grow after an attack, use their feet to move along the ocean, locate prey by their light-sensing eyespots, eat large quantities of food, and their physical structure to protect them from predators by camouflage and bright colors. In the ocean, starfish are able to grow almost their entire bodies after predators attack because of their vital organs along with their nervous systems that are found in their arms and the starfish don't have any brains to be injured in an attack. Moreover, utilize an isotonic saline, wound cleanser, or an antimicrobial solution. If an antimicrobial solution is utilized, dilute it well and warm the solution to body temperature; but do not utilize a microwave to avoid overheating. If the wound appears contaminated clean it every time the dressing is changed. Do not utilize cotton balls, instead utilize gauze squares or a nonwoven swab that do not shed. To perform sterile wound care; first utilize clean gloves to remove the dressing and properly dispose the soiled dressing. Then perform hand hygiene and set up a sterile field. Next, open the sterile dressing while utilizing surgical aseptic technique and place the drape near the wound. Then, open the sterile solution and pour it on the gauze in the container. Now, apply the sterile gloves and proceed with cleaning the wound with the gloved hands or forceps utilizing the gauze with the solution on it. Always keep the forceps tip lower than the handles to prevent the contaminated fluids from coming in contact with the handle or the wrist. Utilize a clean sterile swab for each stroke and clean from the top to bottom starting at the center of the wound. Likewise, you could clean outward from the incision, again starting at the center of the wound and utilizing a clean sterile swab for each stroke. To clean around a Penrose drainage site, swab the area in half or full circles while moving outward and utilizing a clean sterile swab for each stroke. Then dry the surrounding area, but not the wound itself. Next, apply a precut gauze around the drain, and a sterile dressing over the drain and incision. Apply the final surgipad; remove and discard gloves, then secure the dressing with tape. Finally, perform hand hygiene and document the procedure. (849,…

Jellyfish blooms have many negative effects on the ecology of the ocean and the economy of many places in the world. Seaside countries like Japan and Scotland have reported problems with finding jellyfish clogging water filters in their nuclear power plants. Compton's by Britannica states that a jellyfish's body has no skeleton and that more than nine tenths of it is jelly like. With that being said, one can see how these creatures may wind up obstructing seawater-fed pipes. Aside from the power plants, fishermen are affected as well, as the fish that they would normally catch can be devoured at a devastating rate by one of these blooms. These issues are a huge problem with long-lasting effects and can not be solved on their own without…

One of those creatures is the mighty king of the ocean which is the killer whale. The killer whale blends in with the color of the ocean making it very difficult for the Nerdy Starcat to see and escape. Moreover, the underwater rhinoceros is the main predator to the Nerdy Starcat. It is the fastest swimmer in the ocean according to multiple studies. The Nerdy Starcat may be fast, but the underwater rhinoceros is five times faster. With such speed, the underwater rhinoceros easily gets to and eats the Nerdy Starcat. Lastly, another predator that preys on the Nerdy Starcat is the aqua rabbit. The aqua rabbit is a very poisonous creature in the deep sea. Though it may be slower than the Nerdy Starcat, the aqua rabbit found a way in the last few years to eat the deep sea creature in its sleep. One bite meant that the Nerdy Starcat would die within two minutes. The Nerdy Starcat has an extremely weak immune system and can easily be killed by such poison. Because this poison can only kill the Nerdy Starcat, the aqua rabbit only preys on it. Therefore, the Nerdy Starcat eats many different types of food found in the ocean and is also a meal for other predators in the…

Sepia latimanus, common name cuttlefish, can be considered as one of the most uniquely evolved creatures of marine habitat. The species, despite their name, are not a fish, but molluscs. Cuttlefish are part of the order Sepia and belong to the class Caephalopods, which also includes squid, octopuses, and nautiluses. 'Cuttle' is a reference to a unique internal shell, the cuttlebone. As with all other mollusks, the cuttlefish has a calcium-based mantle which shapes the body, which is not unlike that of a jellyfish in ways other than appearance. The cuttlefish have eight arms, not unlike octopus, and two tentacles. Between these two tentacles is the mouth. The…

I found your book “The Thing About Jellyfish” really interesting. Something that I liked about it is the fact that Suzy went through a lot just to learn everything about and how her friend died. My favorite character is probably Suzy’s mom, probably just because she seems like a cool mom that would support their kid a lot. She’s pretty much an ideal mother. My favorite part of the book has to be when Suzy’s mom told her about franny’s death, it’s my favorite part not because it was sad but because of how you wrote the emotion in the book and it helped people kinda feel it in real life it was pretty powerful. I think that a sequel to this book would be cool, I think that if you did it would have to be about how Suzy affected the world with her…

Scientists have been wondering why the numbers of this jellyfish have been increasing and lately they realized that one of the causes might be its immortal capacity. It only grows to 0.2 inches but somehow it can regenerate itself repeatedly(N.D. Melanie Lasoff Levs). What makes it so special is the way that it restarts its own life by changing its form from mature to immature individual for unlimited times. It has the very ability to revive a polyp again and create more new colonies, which is the reason that the number of this jellyfish has increased. “It is like a butterfly but instead of dying it turns back into a caterpillar,” said Maria Pia Miglietta, who is a biology researcher at Pennsylvania State…
