Bottled water is the best option of water for this reason and a few others. Bottled water is also the best option because of its availability during disasters and it provides jobs to many people. Bottled water, best water. Bottled water is very important in underdeveloped countries, it may be the only source of clean water they ever receive. In Bad to the Last Drop, Standage writes, “in the developing world, access to water remains a matter of life or death”. There are many debates, papers and articles going back and forth saying that one is better than the other and so on and so forth. One person will say ,”that bottled water is better” and another will say,” no way tap is better.” Almost like the on going argument that went on in Bobby Bushay’s head in the movie Water Boy where he was saying H2O is better than Gatorade. But when it truly comes down to it tap water is really the winner. It’s better than bottled water in many ways in general. Firstly it costs a whole lot less than bottled water, secondly because most of the time bottle water is that same as tap, and lastly it does not make landfills bigger unlike bottled water.…

In this article “The Case Against Bottled Water”, Petty and Trudeau (2008) claim that people should stop drinking bottled water. The first reasons consist that tap water has more quality control than bottled water. Also, dangerous substances are found in plastic water bottles. Tap Water vs. Bottled Water "The U.S. public goes through about 50 billion water bottles a year, and most of those plastic bottles are not recycled" (Karlstrom, Solvie, and Christine Dell'Amore). Bottled water is harming our environment in many ways. Small things such as transporting these bottles set off fossil fuels which pollutes the air. This could have a huge impact on our environment in the long run. Tap water is more efficient and healthier for our environment, instead of bottled water.…

I’ve always preferred bottled water to tap water because of the taste. Bottled water always tasted fresher and cleaner. According to document 2 it states, “Once the water enters the bottled water plant several processes are employed to ensure that it meets the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) purified water standard.” This shows that even though it tastes clean, it goes through many processes so it can meet the potential of the FDA. Unlike tap water, bottled water does not contain any chlorine. In document 1, the chart shown says tap water contains chlorine and often times fluoride. Bottled water does not have any of this, making it the safer option to drink. Although it is more expensive than tap water, it is definitely worth drinking…

Bottled water has led many people to believe that tap water is impure compared to bottled water but the truth is not so, many scientists have proven that bottled water is no safer than tap water and that bottled water is less regulated than tap water. The illusion that bottled water is purer than tap water is a marketing scheme conjured up by companies, the truth is that up to 40% of bottled water comes from already treated municipal water systems; paid for at taxpayer expense. Water bottlers then sell this water back to the public at thousands of times the price, virtually unchanged. In Tap Water Challenges across the country, people can’t tell a difference.…

While people may think bottled water is more expensive than tap water, it is not true. Tap water to put in piping, or even get a well dug can cost thousands of dollars. Compare that to when a person buys a Tumblr off of amazon for around five to eight dollars, and then gets a gallon jug of Zephyrhills water at around two dollars. The person would then proceed to use that cup to keep filling it up with the gallon jug. This costs about 97% less than getting tap water. Bottled water is more efficient to people’s…

Stores can remove all the bottled water from their shelves so that customers cannot purchase it. In " FDA Regulates the Safety of Bottled Water Beverages Including Flavored Water and Nutrient-Added Water Beverages", it is stated that "FDA monitors and inspects bottled water products and processing plants under its food safety program. When FDA inspects plants, the Agency verifies that the plant's product water and operational water supply are obtained from an approved source; inspects washing and sanitizing procedures; inspects bottling operations; and determines whether the companies analyze their source water and product water for contaminants." (U.S. Food and Drug Administration.). This exert goes to show that there are many aspects of the bottle water industry that are closely inspected. This insures that bottled water comes from a safe reliable source and that the places that are responsible for packaging the water is clean. This also relates back to third world countries, if you compare water from there and water that is bottled, bottled water is significantly safer. The safety of bottled water and the portability combined could take the 80% of loss of life and possibly decrease…

    Bottled Water

Which is better? Bottled water or tap water? Well to answer that question I decided to do an experiment. In general there are many reasons why you should not drink bottled water. Bottled water uses many resources and creates huge amounts of waste. It is estimated that it takes over 25 million gallons of petroleum to produce 1 billion plastic water bottles. To put that into perspective, Americans consume about 50 billion plastic water bottles every year, and that is not counting soda bottles! It also produces 1.5 million tons of plastic every year and plastic takes 700 years to decompose. Bottled water also has BPA's that have been linked to diseases such as breast cancer in women, prostate cancer in men, and the development of Alzheimer’s disease in both sexes. It has also been shown to cause resistance to insulin, which can complicate health issues for diabetics. It is no healthier than tap water and is expensive, which I will be showing you in this experiment. Over 1/3 of the bottled water (Dasana and Aquafina to name a couple) is just tap water that has been purified at the source. To give you another perspective, let’s break down costs. If you purchase a 20 oz water bottle at the cost of $1.00, that breaks down to about 5 cents per ounce. Compare that to drinking filtered tap water at home, where you would be paying about 1-2 cents a gallon! Bottled water is estimated to cost up to 2000 times what tap water costs. Believing that bottled water is any better than tap water is just what marketers want you to believe when they advertise and put on labels with beautiful…

Tap water is better than bottled water because of the reduction of waste. According to National Geographic, “The U.S. public goes through about 50 billion water bottles a year, and most of those plastic containers are not recycled”. Those water bottles end up going into landfills, in the ocean, or on the side of the road. Water bottles are creating so much waste, it’s going to be deadly to our environment. But with tap water, washable glasses are used. No wasteful plastic is used, just reusable containers. To keep the Earth a suitable place for life, tap water should be used over bottled water. Tap water is better than bottled water because of the reduction of waste. Instead of 50 billion water bottles destroying the planet, use tap water.…
