Boston Symphony Orchestr Concert Report
Boston is the city which allows you to dip into American culture. Lots of museums, concert halls, theatres welcome everybody who is interested in getting known US. Symphony Hall is the place which I have chosen and decided to wright my report about. It is a home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, so it tends to be a place to get a real joy listening to music. I went to the Symphony Hall with my friend, who presented me the tickets to make me surprised. I was waiting for this evening with anticipation, and it worth such feelings. 24th of September was the opening night, what means it was the first performance of this season.     1st Semester Concert Report

    The Rhodes College Orchestra began the evening with the Palladio by Karl Jenkins. The Palladio had three different movements. The first movement, the Allegretto, started steadily with the double bass, violoncello, and viola. Then, the tempo became faster and the music more intense, with firm bow strokes from the violin. Throughout most of the movement the rhythm was fast, though there were a few measures where the rhythm slows gradually, but only lasting briefly before it revives again. Towards the end, the mood became lighter and more cheerful, leading the piece to a strong and bold ending. The second movement, the Largo, began quietly. The tempo was slow throughout this movement. The melody was quiet during most of the movement, thus making the vibrato more prominent. The music was loud at the center of the movement, but started to get slower and quieter when approaching the end, letting the ending gently fade out. The third movement, the Vivace, was loud and had a very fast tempo. Towards the midpoint the melody changed and became slow with a melody slightly similar to Largo but faster and more joyful.     To begin my review of this concert, I would like to first briefly talk about foundation history of Boston Symphony Orchestra. This orchestra was founded in 1881 by Henry Lee Higginson.     On October 26, 2010, I attended an oboe concert in Parker Theatre. It was such a wonderful experience because I loved the music styles and the stage presence shown by the members of the Hudson Valley Philharmonic String Quartet. This was the first time for me to see a performance in the theatre. When I got a ticket and entered the concert hall, I was surprised because compared to the other concert hall, Mckenna Theatre, the place was smaller and the stage was middle of the hall, and seats were set half way around the stage which was interesting to me. There were five performers which used five different kinds of instruments: oboe, piano, violin, viola, and cello. They were stylistically different pieces that allowed me to experience the various sounds of music. It was a short concert, which I found interesting, and I felt like staying there after the concert.
