This paper is intended to explore and report upon the topics posited by Tyrone C. Howard in his book, Why Race and Culture Matter in Schools: Closing the Achievement Gap in Americas Classrooms. Closely examining each and every chapter as they come and how the structure of this book gives a detailed framework and guidance system for novice and experienced teachers to take their pedagogical skills to more diverse and multicultural levels. Also, this paper will review a few lessons or projects that can be adapted and used within my personal educational institute in order to create and ameliorate a diverse community of learners. Quoting the author and his sources frequently provides a framework for understanding the context and rich content of a fairly complex notion that the author presented with panache and gravitas.…
Multicultural education is a plan or an approach, a scholastic improvement program, and a course of action. It integrates the conception that all scholars, despite of their race, ethnicity, and their cultural background, shall be allowed the same chance to learn in school. It is a transformation change to bring about a number of important differences in schools, and additional instructional organizations so that pupils from all cultural backgrounds, male, female, black, whites shall be allowed the same chance to be educated (Banks and Banks 2004).…
Directions: Identify the use of logos, ethos and pathos in the speech. First, cite specific lines from the speech. Then, indicate whether the lines are an example of logos, ethos or pathos. Finally, explain the impact the lines are intended to have on the audience. One example has been completed for you.…
Teaching cultural diversity in a classroom can be very difficult, but not impossible. One of the key areas that sometimes go without notice is working with families and developing curriculum together so that their culture becomes a learning forum as well. This will not only teach, but bring about a sense of pride and comfort so that collaboration will continue throughout the school year and beyond. With that being said it is not always easy. Unfortunately there is a lot of concern about whether or not many teachers have the proper knowledge or experience working in or living in diverse environments (Robinson & Clardy, 2011). One way of dealing with this is to integrate ways to approach cultural diversity throughout the teaching program. Once teachers are given the proper techniques then dealing with and approaching diversity will be much easier.…
The audience for writing project one final is for my instructor Heather Burford , for my ivy tech English 111 class . My peer response that I received was very helpful. I was told that I had some grammar mistakes. Also I had a suggestion to fix where I had one of my paragraphs. Also I was told that my writing was a little confusing English wise. But that what I hope to improve on in this class. I also had some good feedback saying that I had a good summery and understanding of the article. I tried fixing as much of my grammar mistakes as I could see and hear but like always I know this paper could be cleaned up better somehow. I just do not see myself what I could fix. I actually enjoy the topic because I actually knew who J.R. Simplot was…
School diversity is not a surprise as presently a large number of the educational population is comprised of students from many different cultural backgrounds. According to research conducted by Education Week (2011) there was a large growth of English language learners in the United Sates over the 21st century. This rise mandated the need for public schools throughout the nation to assist English language learners with the instruction of special language.…
The society of the United States of America is culturally diverse. This diversity reflects on the demographics that our schools have. Every school leader needs to understand the diversity that exists at their schools. Understanding the diversity will determine how professional educators meet the difficulties or handles everyday situations that a school generates. Understanding this cultural composition is not enough. There must be a group of leaders, teachers, researchers and other stakeholders committed to deal with the educational processes that English language learners face.…

General this class taught me to be a superior essayist. As I had said it had took into account me to show persuading contentions. In my English 101 class I never had really attempt to persuade a man that something was correct and something else wasn't right. I needed to principally clarify things and why they were the way that they were. In this class, I had learnt that I needed to ensure that kind coordinated up to make my paper believable and the impacts of what could happen on the off chance that it didn't, care for with. I feel extremely certain that not just that I can compose and ensure sorts coordinate up, yet that I would have the capacity to spot when they didn't coordinate up. At the point when a man is doing a sort investigation…

What I expected to learn in this class and what I got out of this class definitely exceeded my expectation since the first day. As a freshman, it was a challenge for me to take a 300-level class, and I did not think that it would turn out this great. In about four months, I have learned more than I did in a year-long English class that I have previously taken. Before taking this class, my writing style is more focused on giving context rather than getting to the point. For instance, the first sentence of the final draft of e-mail that I turned in for the Business Correspondence Unit says, “I would like to inform you that our team was assigned for planning and implementing the company’s social media campaign”. Since an e-mail must be short,…
Public schools (elementary, secondary, and higher education) in the area show representation of students of various languages, cultures, and ethnicities; and develop and implement programs and structures that acknowledge, support, engage, and promote that diversity (e.g., intensive foreign-language…
I adore reading and writing. Ever since I was a kid, I would spend my time losing myself in books and entangled in other people's thoughts and words. When writing, I entangled myself in my own thoughts and words. For as long as I can remember english has always been a deep passion of mine. My future consist of teaching someone the arts of and the beauty of english. I want to be able to have someone love english as much as I do. Maybe I won’t get them to love english and that happens, but I at least want to teach other people the importance of it. I don't want to lose the biggest chance of getting an advanced english class where I know I will love to be in. This class is such a huge opportunity and it will help me grow and it will help me see…
The widely diverse society in which we live is the foundation of the incredibility that the world has expanded into. Though cultural differences can create barriers among humans, they also serve as connective bonds that can never be destroyed. The United States serves as a key example of multicultural acceptance and the idea that we are in fact united. In Frank McCourt’s memoir, Teacher Man, McCourt’s abilities in incorporating diversity into his English curriculum verify that variety in education can help enhance student’ outlook on life. His story is a growing experience of over 30 years in teaching where he helps students find their own voice as well as his own. McCourt’s efforts in teaching not only create a learning environment for students, but also a comfort zone that enables them to think in more than one dimension.…
