Introduction
The theme of the research paper is “English borrowings”. This theme arouses my interest as it’s widely discussed in all scientific circles. New languages are born, some die out, and lots of them mix up with each other. These facts have a great influence on the humanity. Nowadays the language that influences Russian the most is English. English has become an international language and is used all over the world. More and more people, both youth and grown ups, use this words in their speech. These words are used in all sorts of activities: politics, fashion, trade, medicine, law, military, mass media, sports.
The aim of my research paper is to investigate the borrowed words in different spheres of life and their usage in modern Russian language.
The tasks of the research paper: * to give general information about the borrowed words; * to investigate the process and the way of borrowings; * to determine the importance of the borrowed words.
The subject of my research paper is borrowings.
Methods of investigation are: * the method of observation; * questionnaires; * magazine and TV programme analyzing; * interviewing.
Practical significance of the results of investigation consists in the fact they can be used in teaching English for Belarusian and Russian students.
We all agree that a language is the most important part of human communication. The main element of every language is speech. It consists of words and word combinations. Lots of words in Russian are borrowed from other languages. The knowledge of these words is essential as we meet them every day and everywhere. These

    Now, it is clear that the decline of a language must ultimately have political and economic causes: it is not due simply to the bad influence of this or that individual writer. But an effect can become a cause, reinforcing the original cause and producing the same effect in an intensified form, and so on indefinitely. A man may take to drink because he feels himself to be a failure, and then fail all the more completely because he drinks. It is rather the same thing that is happening to the English language. It becomes ugly and inaccurate because our thoughts are foolish, but the slovenliness of our language makes it easier for us to have foolish thoughts. The point is that the process is reversible. Modern English, especially written English, is full of bad habits which spread by imitation and which can be avoided if one is willing to take the necessary trouble. If one gets rid of these habits one can think more clearly, and to think clearly is a necessary first step toward political regeneration: so that the fight against bad English is not frivolous and is not the exclusive concern of professional writers. I will come back to this presently, and I hope that by that time the meaning of what I have said here will have become clearer. Hoffer Trinity University Introduction One of the most easily observable results of intercultural contact and communication is the set of loanwords that is imported into the vocabulary of each language involved. The field of cultures and languages in contact (Weinreich 1953) has grown a great deal over the past fifty years. From the early studies, a 'Scale ' or 'Index of Receptivity ' has been posited for languages which more readily accept borrowings. Alongside that scale, a 'Scale of Adaptability ' has been posited. The study of a language 's adaptability and receptivity of borrowed words, especially those from International English, provides some interesting case studies. Major languages such as English, Spanish, Japanese and Chinese make good case studies for the discussion of the indices of adaptability and receptivity. Language Borrowing Processes Language borrowing has been an interest to various fields of linguistics for some time. (Whitney 1875, deSaussure 1915, Sapir 1921, Pedersen 1931, Haugen 1950, Lehmann 1962, Hockett 1979, Anttila 1989) In the study language borrowing, loanwords are only one of the types of borrowings that occur across language boundaries. The speakers of a language have various options when confronted with new items and ideas in another language. Hockett (1958) has organized the options as follows. (1) Loanword Speakers may adopt the item or idea and the source language word for each. The borrowed form is a Loanword. These forms now function in the usual grammatical processes, with nouns taking plural and/or possessive forms of the new language and with verbs and adjectives receiving native morphemes as well.     We want to introduce to your attention our scientific work “The differences between American English and British English.” We know that the language of some English speakers differs from that of others, every language allows different kinds of variations: geographical or territorial, perhaps the most obvious, stylistic, the difference between the written and the spoken form of the standard national language and others. For historical and economic reasons the English language has spread over vast territories. It is natural, that, the English language is not used with uniformity in the British Isles and in the world. It is almost a century already that the nature of the two main variants of the English language, British and American has been discussed. Some American linguists, H.L. Mencken for one, speak of two separate languages with a steady flood of linguistic influence first (up to about 1914) from Britain to America, and since then from America to British Isles. Since BE and AE have essentially the same grammar system, phonetic system and vocabulary, they cannot be regarded as different languages. Mor can they be referred to local dialects; because they serve all spheres of verbal communication in society within their territorial area they have dialectal differences of their own; besides they differ far less than local dialects. Another consideration is that AE has its own literary norm. Thus we must speak of two variants of the English national language having different accepted literary standards, one spoken in the British Isles, another spoken in the USA. So, linguistic evidence drawn from the investigation of English gives every reason to say that in spite of all functional differences observed in spelling, pronunciation and uses of words, in word-making and grammar, British and American variants of the English language prove one and the same system and one and the same language…

    In 1920-1990s, during decades of Soviet cultural and political domination, almost all people in the Republic had to speak Russian whether they are Russians or not. It wasn’t forbidden to speak Kazakh, but if people did not know Russian language well, they would not succeed and couldn’t get good paid jobs; they belonged to uneducated and to a lower social class. Since that time, most families sent their children to Russian schools and tried to speak primarily Russian at home. Nowadays, those children have grown up, most don’t speak Kazakh while some don’t even know the language at all. According to last census data in 2009 only 45% can free write and read in the Kazakh language, understand spoken language 64%, and 82% freely write and read in Russian language to understand spoken language 94.4% of the population of Kazakhstan. Kazakh- speaking people think that they find the possibility of loosing their own language and maybe their own culture in the near future, if they continue using Russian in daily life in their home country. At the same time Russian- speaking people can not learn Kazakh as a result faced with social and employment problems. We conducted the survey among students of KIMEP. According to the results of the survey, we have found that students of KIMEP face with language barrier (Here we will show pie chart according to our survey). This problem has two sides. First one that native people of Kazakhstan does not speak Kazakh language that leads to lots of culture and traditions. From the other side, people who do not speak Kazakh language faced with some problems, which bring them not only to the personal problems, but it also effects on situation in the country.…
