The Alchemist

The novel that teaches life lessons about buried dreams and treasures, fulfilled destinies, and meeting the significant other you‘ve always cherished, sounds like a novel known as The
Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. The Alchemist had first been published in Portuguese, the year of
1988 in Brazil. When published in Brazil the book didn't get as much recognition that it deserved. I now will forever believe that "Dreams Come

Dr. Mandler chose to create a publishing press for this book, the “Ergo Sum Press”: derived from Descartes,’ “Cogito Ergo Sum”: I think, therefore I am. “The major negative for looking for a publisher is the time period. [It takes] at least a year or two for a book to run the course of selection. I [also] wanted to retain control over what the book looked like. When you go with a publisher, you give up a lot of control of what goes into the book,” said Dr.…

But, if he settles for the length he’s gotten to so far, he will later regret not completing his journey. As the alchemist said in the novel, “You’ll spend the rest of your days knowing that you didn’t pursue your Personal Legend and that now it’s too late.” It’s easy to say follow your dreams, but it’s not always as easy as it sounds.…

Introduction: Bestseller versus classics has been a subject of controversy from the time immemorial. Many readers think of them being located poles apart. However, many think them to be complementary to each other. A classic, by nature, has to be a masterpiece, a gem written by the author in such a way that it is almost flawless, possess something that no other book has done. But unfortunately, by the very nature of the word ‘bestseller’, a piece of work has to pass through the rigours of trade, which, at times, favours glitz and advertising more than quality.
