“Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone, he told me, “Just remember that all the people in this world haven’t had the advantages that you’ve had.” Starting off chapter one the book, “The Great Gatsby introduces the narrator, Nick Carraway. Pages one to three, Nick begins by explaining his own situation. He has moved from the Midwest to West Egg, a town on Long Island, NY. The novel set around WWI. Nick has moved to east to try to become a bond trader on Wall Street. Nick is a graduate from Yale, and grew up in a wealthy family. Nick has rented a small house that is between many large mansions. The mansion next door to his house belongs to Jay Gatsby. There is a large bay in front of Nick's house, and across that bay live Nick's cousin,
