The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime
Christopher, who is fifteen-year-old boy, is the narrator of the book. He is an autistic young boy. One day, he found his neighbour's dog, Wellington, killed by a garden fork. After the police got there, Christopher hit the police in a misunderstanding situation. However, luckily, he was released with only a stern warning.
Christopher decided to find out who had killed Wellington. Therefore he started asking around the neighborhood to see if anyone knows anything about the dog's death. However, he was told that his mother had an affair with Mr. Shears for a long time. Christopher had some fights with his father after he found out his father lying to him.
Christopher realized his mother did not die after reading her letters to his father. He knew that his father lied about his mother’s death and his father was the one who had killed Wellington after an argument with Mrs. Shears. Christopher lost all trust in his father and got fearful of him so he runs away. Then, he went to London to find his mother who was living with Mr. Shears now.
When Christopher’s mother knows his father told him she had died, she was really shocked. However, his mother left Mr. Shears and returned to Swindon with Christopher as he did not like him. Then he went back to Swindon in order to take his mathematics A-level Exam. Christopher moves into a new apartment with his mother and was visited regularly by his father who wants to gain his trust again. When Christopher’s pet rat Toby died, Christopher’s father gives Christopher a puppy. He got top grade in his mathematics A-level Exam. Although he wanted to be an astronaut before, he finally wanted to be a scientist. Christopher is optimistic about his future.
My Favourite Character:
Christopher is definitely my favourite character. I feel that he is just like me. We have the same characteristics. We are not sociable but we both love mathematics....
