Book Report For The Great Gatsby

The book, The Great Gatsby, is a book based back in the 1920’s. The main characters of The Great Gatsby were Nick Carraway, Jay Gatsby, Daisy Fay Buchanan, Thomas “Tom” Buchanan, Jordan Baker, George B. Wilson, Myrtle Wilson, and Meyer Wolfshiem. Nick Carraway is provided as a first-person narrator in the book. In the very beginning of the story Nick moves from the Midwest to West Egg, Long Island, striving to become a versatile man. Nick has a cousin in Long Island named Daisy that is married to a man named Tom. Nick moves into his house, which is beside a gentleman by the name of Jay Gatsby. Nick realizes that Jay is a young millionaire and often tends to hold conversations with Jay throughout the story. Although this isn’t acknowledged towards the beginning of the story, Jay Gatsby has some very shady business hookups which is how he acquired his currency. Jay Gatsby is obsessed with Nick’s cousin, Daisy, and often tends to throw many parties throughout the story to try and impress Daisy but he fails. The story is based off of how Nick deciphers Jay Gatsby’s life and you could make the assumption that he tries to be like Gatsby. The story shows how Nick lays out Jay’s life which shows he came from rags to riches. He may not have
George is the owner of an old run down auto shop at the edge of the valley of ashes. George has no clue about the affair going on between Myrtle and Tom, but when he does he is devastated. George loved and idolized Myrtle throughout the story until he hears of the affair going on between both Tom and Myrtle.
