In the book “ On Zion's Mount : Mormons, Indians, and the American Landscape” Jared Farmers argument is that early pioneers not only displaced and misunderstood the native peoples living the in West, but they also displaced and replaced their sacred, essential symbols with others and made a false history to support the sacredness of their newly chosen emblems. For example, they replaced Native Americans vital, life-giving, Utah Lake with the lifeless, unimportant and unworthy emblems that reminded them of home, because they did not then, nor do they now, understand the real importance of Native American places like Utah Lake.…

“Harold Camping, the Radio evangelist who predicted the apocalypse would begin Saturday, May 21, 2011, said today, [May 23, 2011] his understanding of God’s plan was just a little off” (Schabner). Camping believed that if he put the correct numbers into a mathematical equation that he would be able to predict the exact day and time of the rapture. However in reality, The Bible tells us that we are unable to predict this moment, that the only thing we can do in regard to the rapture is “watch” (ESV, Matt. 24:13). The Bible says that the rapture will come like a “thief in the night” and that men and women who have chosen to follow Christ should not be surprised by the event (Paul 's Epistle). They are told to expect the impending rapture; however, they are also told to understand that the exact time and date of this event will never be known to them. The only way to track the coming event is to watch for prophesies to be fulfilled. These prophesies have already begun to be fulfilled throughout the past centuries.…

In their work How to Read the Bible for All Its Worth, Gordon Fee and Douglas Stewart provide a hermeneutical roadmap for the laymen and a valuable interpretive tool for the serious bible student. The authors believe a breakdown of the Holy Scripture by genre and the use of modern translation is the key to a more profitable study of the word of God. By using a set of guiding principles Fee and Stuart engage the reader by putting them in the position of both interpreter and expositor, encouraging the reader to employ the principles of both Hebrew and Greek word studies for proper elucidation.…

This study shall discuss vv. 1-16 of the 3rd chapter of Sirach. The researcher shall also answer the question why Ben Sira wrote the duties and obligations of children to their parents. Another question which the researcher shall probe in this study is to distinguish whether the “atonement for sins” mentioned in v. 3 and v.15 “Like Frost in Fair Weather, Your Sins Will Melt Away” are tantamount to the way sins are forgiven through the sacrament of reconciliation as we understand it today.…

James’s purpose is to encourage and strengthen the scattered Jewish Christians in their faith during those difficult times. The style of this letter sounds more like a preaching of a sermon. Perhaps because of the lack of support of established churches for these scattered Jewish Christians, James purposefully made this epistle sound like a sermon. His purpose is simply to exhort the Jewish Christians and us all in matters of daily Christian living namely, the Christian attitudes towards trials, temptations and life, how to demonstrate the Christian faith and how to live out a consistent Christian life. James urges his people to make the needed changes in their lives and in their corporate…
