Book Analysis: Four Panels
PAGE 11 (4 panels)

PANEL 1
Elmer is behind bars, sitting on his uncomfortable jail bed. He spits out blood from his mouth. Ray and Stan are looking at him from the other end.

Ray Roberts
Figure out how did he get here?

Stan
Not yet.
Want to ask him?

Ray Roberts
You know I'd love to, but he won't talk no matter what.

PANEL 2
Ray looks at Stan and asks him a question. This is a small panel. Ray Roberts
Can we talk outside for a sec?

Stan
Sure.

PANEL 3
A big dialogue panel. Ray and Stan are outside. They're talking to each other. It's an early morning and everybody's asleep. The tiny Brookmeer is empty.

Stan
What's the matter?

Ray Roberts
Listen, I think I know what's going on...

There's a huge chaos all over the room. Elmer is lying down lifeless on the floor with a bullet in his forehead. A puddle of blood is coming out of his head. Ray is on the other side of the room (the one that's closer to Stan). Ray's sitting on the floor and leaning on the wall. He seems very exhausted and battered. He has a big black eye in his right eye, his nose is bleeding and Elmer's revolver in his hands.

Ray
Hi there, buddy.

I thought there's no chance in hell my secret wasn't revealed.

No dialogue.

PANEL 2
A flashback of Ray overthrows the table in the jail room in anger. Some documents that were on the table are flying through the air. Elmer doesn't understand what's going on.

PANEL 1
An Establishing shot of a big area of big old fashioned tents. The tents are arranged in a half circle, when the biggest tent (Dale's tent) is in the middle of the half circle. Right next to the tents, we can see the horses that The White Clovers ride on all the time. It's night time.

Meanwhile…

No dialogue.

PANEL 2
Someone young is standing in the entrance to a dark tent. Because of the darkness, we can barely see that the young lad is talking to some guy in a bed.

Willard
Dale, sorry for interrupting, but we need to talk, sir.

Dale
Wait for me outside.

PANEL 3
Dale wears his dirty jacket over his dirty white short shirt as well. Behind him, a little short haired girl wakes up from her sleep in a bed next to Dale's bed in her cute old pajama.

In the poem, Tabrizi uses the expression “A Thousand Splendid Suns” to illustrate the beauty of Afghanistan by personifying as a beautiful woman. It is therefore it is ironic that a novel that depicts the destruction of Afghanistan’s culture and the power structure, as in how much they value men to women. In the poem, it says, “May Allah protect such beauty from the evil eye of man!” This along with the concept of female endurance and survival from her own country shows just how corrupt the Afghanistan culture has become from then to now. The title highlights the tragedy of what happen to Afghanistan by making us remember precedent of what happens in the novel. Like the visit to the giant Buddha statues before their…

"There's a Wocket in my Pocket!" is an interesting children's book created by Dr. Seuss. At first glance one is given the impression that "There's a Wocket in my Pocket!" is just another fantasyland children's book by Dr. Seuss with a goofy cast of characters and amusing, memorable rhyme scheme. However, when one digs beneath the surface he will come to realize that this expresses a tale of paranoia and insanity that has been unparalleled in modern society.…

From this spot I can see everything. The roofs of seven abandoned buildings create an industrial skyline from where I sit. A bulldozer stands where a building once did. The sun is beginning to set and the windows of the buildings are giving off a powerful glare. The sky is a mix of oranges and reds, straight out of a Van Gogh painting. The purple clouds are motionless and seem to be waiting for the sun to set, so they can go to sleep.…

So we treaded through the filthy swamp and made our way along until finally we came to the home of Majular. It was a small run down log cabin that looked as if it could have been a few hundred years old. Lars decided he would be the one to go get it because he thought himself the strongest and bravest. He snuck in through the window and ended up in a room with the most wretched smell. He looked around the house and it seemed to be empty. Steve, Ozzy, and I watched from a distance and tried to be as quiet as possible. Lars opened a final door with a blinding green light shining through it. He came closer and picked up what must have been the box. I watched as he opened it and then disappeared. We quickly decided to go in and get Lars. As we wandered in the cabin Majular popped out of a cloud of green smoke.…
